Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : CU football: Buffs wary of unranked Oregon - Buffzone

In other news, the Buffs get a 4 star commitment, Craig Watts from FL. Stuart has the info, "Watts had other offers from … all over the country. Want a sampling from the list of the suitors? Try Alabama, Arizona, Florida State, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State and Wisconsin … over three dozen Power-Five conference schools." Hmmm, a Leavitt recruit? New facilities and Watts sees the improvement of the team and wants to play earlier then if he went to say, Alabama or OSU? Could be he loves Boulder too. Great get, it's going to be a small, but good class.

Here is a stat from Stuart that is just the type of stat we like to see in a game like this "70 of 78 players who dressed were able to take the field". That's the type of experience the Buffs need from a game like this, in the past, they wouldn't have gotten as many.

Ya, Oregon just replaced him and Lockie drove for a TD, short lived though as Utah has come back and are still a head by 2 TDs. UCLA looks great and Perkins will be in the NFL next year. Good to hear about Hawaii.

Congratulations Bell, nice to have you back and playing well. Congratulations Spruce, it's early in the season, how many records at CU will you own by the end? Congratulations to Lee, having watched you in your HS championship game, makes me proud to see you succeed as a Buff. Oregon is currently losing to Utah by 14 points! Get ready for a big game at home boys, Oregon's defense isn't that great. ;)

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : CU football: Jay MacIntyre breaks out against Nicholls - Buffzone

"Yet when his father and CU coach Mike MacIntyre offered his son a scholarship, more than a few fans were concerned about a repeat of the perceived coach/father-quarterback/son nepotism that marked the Dan and Cody Hawkins era at CU." Not entirely true, MacIntyre made it known from the beginning that Jay was not coming to CU to play QB and he would be competing at either WR or DB. It starting to look like Rooney likes write an 80% true article and then throw in a statement like that to spark controversy/debate.

The defense holding them to zero made the win all the better and will help the Buffs defense gain confidence as conference play starts; a lot of players got playing time. Seeing Mathews make a play late in the game (he is a local boy), makes me feel the depth is improving on the D-line.

Great game! Very proud of the way it ended. I was rooting for CU to beat the spread on that last drive, but when I saw them take a knee on 2nd and goal on the 4 yard line, I thought "classy". Loved to see players that haven't played or played much get valuable time and make plays. Jay Mac's TD run after the catch was awesome. Apsay looks really accurate, he may be the number 2 QB, Gehrke didn't get very many plays, but Apsay throws looked crisper and clean.

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : CU football: Buffs shift Donovan Lee to running back - Buffzone

Re: #2, I'm betting they only use him sparingly at running back for a few basic plays, nothing fancy just a couple at game speed to prepare for conference play. But, until his stats reflect his potential I don't think Oregon is paying too much attention to an article about him and what he may do. They may make a note about him, but they won't have anything to watch or to prepare with until he does something, so this week should be vanilla. I could see him being like "Speedy" if the right plays are called for him and his strengths. Ah, the trickery plays, something Oregon is familiar with, time for some of their own medicine, with some miss-direction when they then expecting something. I really am hoping that a solid, but easy game this week will set the Buffs up for their best chance for an upset next week, while Utah and OU should be a tough physical game.

They will be able to do some creative things with Lee, moving him between receiver and back, putting him in motion and such. He did that in high school and I could see him used in some trickery plays at Colorado, he can help keep the defense on their toes. Another weapon to develop for conference play. Nothing too fancy this week, but after that wink, wink, he's just filling in for now.

Good example brutus, your right in college football anything can happen and the Buffs need to be serious about the game AND the opportunity for growth and experience. I know I'm sounding like captain obvious (no caps), but to the starters: Do your job early and effectively and give your less experience teammates some valuable game time; and earn some rest for yourself. The goal should be (per captain obvious) to be as polished as possible with the basics to prepare for Oregon without over looking this weeks opponent or giving up any of the play book they are saving for conference play. I would love to see everyone get to pad their stats a little instead of just a few a lot. Any way I'm looking forward to a fun game and I'm hoping to see some new players on the field too... or a little more time for others that played a little to date..

This should be a good game to rest Gillam and anyone else that is dinged up before PAC12 play and give Gamboa and the seconds and thirds some useful reps too. This is as close to a bye that they are going to get this season, hopefully, they can pull the starters early. Wouldn't it be great if they could play deep in the rotation and everyone that's healthy and who is not redshirting gets time.

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : CU football: Buffs set sights on rival Colorado State - Buffzone

MacIntyre said ""There was a lot of mistakes we made in that football game, and we really need to improve this week to be able to beat CSU," . Crawley was beat multiple times in the 1st quarter and had their QB made those throws they would have had a two touch down lead at the end of the 1st quarter. How would that have effected the game and the Buffs play? It seems to me he covers the short routes well, but on long route with a "juke move" he falls behind or he plays too far off to get there in time. But on a positive note, I was really impressed with their play after the 1st quarter and seeing the 2nd string get in the game for mop up was great; and not because the Buffs were too far behind for a change.
