Augusta Insider : Quid Pro Otten

Funny thing to have a Democrat say this when our congresswoman's boyfriend is pumping $100,000 into a Maine referendum campaign to preserve her daughter's legacy. Hypocrite much?

Augusta Insider : Who Will Win The Democratic Primary?

Wow. Now that you've put it in all capitals for me like a fourteen-year-old it makes perfect sense. "Party doesn't mean jack anymore"? OK, Arlen Specter. There's a new LePage slogan: "LePage for Governor. Because the Republican Party Doesn't Matter."

You're confusing selfishness and incompetence with integrity, but I'm glad to hear you're supporting LePage because you think he's the least Republican of the Republican candidates. Maybe you should take a look at the Democrats if you want to vote for someone who won't help the GOP.

Why is LePage running as a Republican if his followers don't even care about the GOP? We need a Republican nominee who will help elect a Republican House and a Republican Senate to get the job done for Maine.

Augusta Insider : An Open Letter to Maine GOP Chairman Charlie Webster and Executive Director Christie-Lee McNally

I think this piece is petty and offensive, poorly thought out, and totally uninformed, and I wrote that because I believe in being honest. This piece would seem to be exactly the sort of vitriol and strident partisanship you say you are against. Simon is embracing it, not rising above it, as are you.

Why would Republicans want to nominate someone who won't be a loyal Republican? Isn't that effectively what you're saying here? And if that's what you want, shouldn't Les Otten be your man?

Wow, I never knew the Chamber of Commerce was behind illegal immigration AND terrorism! Thanks, Bill Becker! By the way, if Jacobson hates "Washington special interests", why did he go to the Republican Governors Association meeting? They're a grassroots Maine-based group, are they?

Augusta Insider : Maine League of Young Voters Back Rowe

I wonder if Rowe really wants to accept the endorsement of a group that regularly endorses Greens over Democrats in local and legislative groups in the Portland area. Isn't he running for the Democratic nomination? What will Democrats think of a Green-oriented group getting involved in their primary?

I was entirely civil, and always have been. It's not my fault that you can't take it when people call you out for lying. 1) So you admitted you're wrong. Got it. That only took how many comments? "Blanket support within a party" is not "support from a party". Parties aren't just names, they're organizations, with decision-making bodies. Failing to agree with your biased logic does not equate to a lack of common sense; indeed, it is the very definition of common sense. 2) Because it doesn't mention Obama, you're wrong. Your opinion on the intent of the authors is not "clear" to most of us, and it's not relevant to anyone. I don't think it's a clear jab at anyone. I think only racists who believe the birther theories would consider it as such. How hard is it to just write "I was wrong" anyway? If you're going to get very far in life, you should learn.

He was not claiming that they were a separate party. That is an entirely different issue that is irrelevant. They are a movement that has advocated for the election of Democrats as well as Republicans.

"...everyone involved in everything I mentioned is a Republican." Not true. That is a lie. Independents, Democrats, and minor-party members have been involved in all three of the things you mentioned. The national tea party group endorsed a Democratic congressman for re-election; Democrats have been involved in the birth certificate conspiracy; and Democrats also voted against every single piece of legislation. You just claimed that every single person who has ever been to any tea party event anywhere in the country is a Republican. Does that really make any sense? Again, you need to think things through before writing, not after.

Augusta Insider : An Open Letter to Maine GOP Chairman Charlie Webster and Executive Director Christie-Lee McNally

I was totally civil and did respond to you with respect. It's not my fault that you can't handle criticism. They were not interpreted incorrectly. 1) You were referring to both the Maine GOP and the national GOP when you said "your party." They are a member of both parties, so unless you specified one or the other, you meant both, together. Parties do not push for, or take stances on, specific pieces of legislation. The legislative caucuses of parties might, the congressional leadership of party caucuses in a legislative body might, the national party chair might, but the national parties themselves do not. You clearly do not know much about American government or politics at all, let alone more than me. It makes no more sense to say the Republican Party opposed legislation than it does to say the Democratic Party passed legislation. Either statement is always inaccurate in American democracy. 2) You didn't answer my question. Which part of the bill specifically mentions Obama? Find the quote for me, please. 3) The Attorney General of California is a radical left-winger who's running for governor. He's not unbiased. I don't believe anything that comes out of that office. Of course he'll defend a group that's going to help get him elected in the fall.

Congratulations, by calling all conservatives bigots and racists you just personally attacked both of our U.S. Senators. I really don't know how you're going to sleep at night, launching these ridiculous personal attacks. Bigotry and racism are not conservative or liberal principles. It's a shame that you can't tolerate people who disagree with you. You are the bigot.

Wow, you clearly didn't think things through before you wrote them. Seems to be a recurring problem. (1) No, you were not. You were referring to the Maine GOP, and even if you were referring to the national GOP, you're still wrong. Political parties do not make laws, for one. Do you know how democracy works? (2) Exactly what section of the new law mentions Obama? Find that for me, please. (3) The ACORN scandal was not a fraud. You are lying.

Dear Simon: The party was not responsible for individual miscreants' behavior. Get a clue. Also, the Maine Republican Party did not ever call Obama non-American or form a new branch of anything. Is everything all conservatives do in Maine the fault of the state party? Do they even teach what individual responsibility is these days? Moreover, the Maine Republican Party is not responsible for filibustering anything. Did you learn anything about state and federal government, separation of powers, and the role of political parties? Moreover, every single piece of progressive legislation in Congress has not been filibustered. That is a flat-out lie, unless you have a much narrower definition of "progressive" than the rest of the world.
