WSBT South Bend - Your Local News Leader : Ohio man found guilty of putting children in trash | WSBT - News, Weather, Sports South Bend | Regio

Um, yes, Mixie. I read the article. I saw where the parents had a dispute. What I did not see in my reading was where it said that the mother did not report her children missing or was not trying to find them. Also, as a divorced parent, I know firsthand that it doesn't matter if you are arguing with your ex-spouse. Their parenting rights are never in question. You must let them take the kids, no matter what. It is unfortunate, and as a result, we see all kinds of stories just like this one... where the kids get killed or abused. Thank God in this case, the kids were found alive. I hope the man gets punished for what he has done, before he does something worse in the future.

Will all due respect, this story does not mention the mother at all. For all we know, she was desperately searching for her children in cooperation with the police. It would take quite a long time to search an entire city for your children! For goodness sakes. Examine the facts that we know- the father is definitely the one that tried to kill these children. If you must rush to judge someone, judge HIM.

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. This is horrifying. Beyond horrifying. I can't think of a word bad enough to describe it. I hope this girl is in a safe place now, surrounded by people who will support and love her. This just makes me sick.

You know what is sick? After this is over and he receives his community service or whatever he receives, his ex-wife will still have to turn the child over to his animal for visitations. That's just the way our messed up judicial system works....

WSBT South Bend - Your Local News Leader : Police: officers used stun gun on 10-year-old | WSBT - News, Weather, Sports South Bend | Regional

Many times, when a child has oppositional defiance disorder (or similar issues) it is not an issue of parenting. Sometimes, the child has a real problem. The parents suffer just as much as everyone else, because it is so hard to control their kid. Then, there are children who need discpline at home and don't receive it. In those cases, the parent is to be blame. However, in this case, we have no idea what type of parents this boy has. However, police should not slap a 10-year old boy in the face or taze him. It's uncalled for. They could physically restrain the boy to prevent him from hurting himself or others... they didn't need to resort to violence.

WSBT South Bend - Your Local News Leader : Brothers killed when buggy hit by SUV in S. Ind. | WSBT - News, Weather, Sports South Bend | Regiona

Not necessarily. I used to live in the Middlebury area... I've had some close calls myself. If a buggy doesn't have it's lights on (and I'm not saying that these boys didn't- the article doesn't say) than it is very difficult to see them in fog, etc. Also, there are some really dangerous areas on country roads... I have come over hills before (doing the speed limit) and a buggy was right on the other side. I had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting it. If it was a situation like that, in addition to fog, I can see where this would happen... with the driver going the speed limit. My prayers go out to the family. What a tragedy!

Stuff like this angers me. Regardless of anyone's personal beliefs about gay marriage, I don't think that ANYONE can honestly compare two consentual adults having sex to an adult molesting a child. That is just ridiculous.

Jr. High kids don't have any sense of mortality. They weren't considering the fact that people have actually died from taser use... they would be especially vulnerable, being child-sized rather than adult sized. This officer did not use any common sense at all, when he should have been the 'adult' in the situation. We need our police officers to possess calm wits, quick minds and common sense. This man doesn't appear to have that, or if he does, he had a very big lapse in judgment.

Juve- I agree. His family and friends aren't to blame. They are probably embarrassed, appalled and ashamed to admit that he is their family. I feel horrible for his parents- they must be devastated. I know that I would be. And I also agree about the "uncaught nutcases". :) Unbelievable sometimes.

Wow... can he really have sustained all of those injuries, from as far up as his collarbone to all the way down to his pancreas with a man's foot? The guy said he stepped on him... why doesn't that feel right? If that was really what happened, wouldn't he have taken him to the hospital? And you know something else... I am sorry that I am automatically suspicious in these things. It's just that we've heard so many of these types of stories (unfortuntely!) that my mind automatically wonders what really happened.

Please. Five times more students have anxiety as opposed to teens during the Great Depression?? I find that hard to believe. I think it is more likely that people back then just didn't tell anyone these things, therefore, they don't have the numbers accurately reported.

Thank you for your story--- I would not have even thought of this. There is a gigantic snow pile in our cul-de-sac... where there is no traffic.
After reading some of the comments here, I tend to believe that perhaps WSBT should stop allowing people to comment on these stories. While most of the "regulars" are extremely respectful in situations like this, there are some idiots who insist on being cold-hearted, compassion-less idiots who make ignorant statements. The victim's family very well might read this article and the comments. Do you have no sense of compassion or even humanity?? To the Szuba family: You have my deepest condolences. I am so very sorry for your loss. I will pray a prayer of peace for you right now.

I didn't read anything racist in it. I did see an analogy, though... I saw the similarities between the movie and the United States going in and trying to take over another culture with the underlying root cause being money. That is exactly what the movie line was about... making me think that James Cameron is probably anti-Iraqi War. In all, I thought the movie was really good.

I understand that statutory rape is a crime, but it is not a crime punishable by execution, whch is what this dad attepted. I agree with everyone that what this 20 yr old did was wrong-- but this dad acted out with a hot-headed temper! If it were me, I would have pushed him into a chair and waited until the police got there. You can't just kill someone for sleeping with your daughter.
