Big Government : BigGovernment Article Forces SEC Insider-Trading Investigation

There was a story about how the SEC computer system was logging amazing screen hours at porn sites immediately before and during the GW Bush financial disaster. These guys were otherwise occupied during the moment in history that made the Obama "landslide" possible.

Big Peace : FBI Targets Constitutionalists

The implication that this Bureau has become politicized is strong, considering the category "Constitutionalist" is something I've never even encountered before. "Deep Throat" of Watergate fame was an FBI official who stated the reason for his involvement was...politicization. Anne Coulter was all over this when the story broke, and added the womanly insight that the man in question may have felt passed over for a promotion. It's been said that Republicans eat their own, and Democrats protect criminals. Let's all hope that a tipping point in the neutrality of FBI rank and file hasn't been reached, as I've never wavered from the belief that the Constitution is the law of the land. Human nature would give me hope that in an organization of that size, people will always feel passed over, but in the current economy few sane people want to go looking for a job in the private sector. If a kakistocratic police state is in the offing, I think I'll try to swim to France...they've had a long time to perfect theirs.

Big Peace : Report: John Lennon Was Closet Conservative And Reagan Fan

I remember this 'controversy' from 1980, as a musically gifted kid who idolized Lennon. He was shot within days of my 10th birthday. TV interviews with him were fun because one never knew what he would say. The change from drugged out hippie rock star to stay-home Dad was apparent even to me. There was one interview where he even advocated a strong right of self-defense, maybe the Mike Wallace show. He must have gotten a lot of threats through the years, considering his level of fame and his politics. It's odd that an obsessive fan with some extremely Leftist ideas should come after him just as those closest to him noticed a general rightward shift in his attitudes, and some little kids noticed too. I could write a bit on this from memory, but I'm sure Mr. Sun Tzu will explore it further. ;)

Big Hollywood : Today's Open Thread: #16 'All In the Family'

It's odd that in those easy chair debates between Archie and Meathead, the winner was the one who got in the last word. Archie, with a Bronx Cheer, would usually prevail. I wonder if the show's creators helped set the tone for political debate, or were just showing how real people argued amongst themselves.

Actors who try too hard to become the characters they play were lampooned in the film "Tropic Thunder". I'm thinking of the Downey and Stiller parts. They were hilarious. Sadly it seems that in real life, such actors tend to be prone to outbursts. Especially when inebriated.

Breitbart.tv : Minnesota Public Radio Spends Six Months Investigating Bullying in Public Schools

Now in simpler terms. citizen journalist tries to get into school, busted under suspicion of endangering kids, gets tried in court of public opinion before legal trial even begins, and then educrats gain even more power. I think the skilled writers that submit to Breitbart should tackle this one in a hurry, and maybe Fox News will pick it up and runs some features to counter the whole process BEFORE election day 2012.

It sounds to me like the reporter said MN had a weak state law and school districts crafted policy to deal with the situation at hand. The school district has the latitude to be most effective in finding solutions. Then the Governor's appointed Attorney General would be responsible for both policing and protecting the districts from a legal standpoint. It appears to me that this gives power to localities, with the state government as referee. The main problem in practice would be an equal protection dilemma pitting locality vs. locality, with the Feds joining with activist legal entities to force uniformity. Predictably, the media create a problem( MN weak state law), in an electorally close state, and then the national media descend during the POTUS campaign to uncover disparate impact that has been documented during the 6 month investigation. The zero-sum legal philosophy will be revealed as legalized discrimination, and the incumbent POTUS benefits as he brings a solution the MSM absolutely loves. This is becoming a pattern, and the new media should probably start documenting it in MN now.

I was told by a doctor to go gluten-free. I feel better after a year+ on the diet at age 39 than I did when I was 18. The accumulated damage was weak bones, 4 feet of dead intestine and $250,000 in medical bills that were only treating the symptoms...not the cause. Celiac Disease isn't a figment of some quacks imagination. It is very serious business, and if some entrepreneur started a chain of supermarkets where one didn't need to read every last ingredient label, that person would be a hero in my book. For a very unlucky few it's a matter of life and death.

Breitbart.tv : Remember: Both Houses of Congress Link Arms and Sing 'God Bless America'

I choose to believe that for a brief moment, even Democrats wished to express solidarity with their countrymen. Where Dems mislead and obfuscate, we must rise above. The mere mention of God angers their base, because many of them believe in God only to the extent that it benefits them to say so in the public sphere. I believe in God, therefore all men are my brothers. If my brother sins against me, I must forgive...and take precautions that he never has a chance to do so again.
