Commentary Magazine : Geraldo Rivera and Common Decency

Although he had good intentions, and did some good in reevaluating our mental health issues, the government had to go overboard and throw everyone out of institutions, even those who NEED to be there, that isn't Geraldo's fault. Since (moderate) Republicans are all the rage here in the Soviet state of NJ, he may do well here. I just pray I hit the lottery and can move out of this place, even if it's to PA, where one can still practice his/her 2nd amendment, God given rights. Unless you have connections, or are rich, it's impossible to get a CCP in Jersey. He'll probably follow in Christie's footsteps, and hang on to his coattails. Yeah, his name was Jerry Rivers, he changed it for obvious reasons.

Commentary Magazine : Where's the Outrage on Morsi's Hate?

Why do we seem at odds on how to deal with people, and I use the term loosely, who've stated that they WILL NOT live according to society's rules. They have no compunction about killing innocent civilians, women, children. They use their own children as explosives carriers. They murder their women for the least infraction. They admit to lying to us (infidels), to further their cause. All this evidence and we still don't know how to deal with them. Puzzling.

Commentary Magazine : Why Both Parties Failed

Addendum: I remember an America where we kids could play outside, well after dark. An America where people said hello, and please and thank you. An America where we learned how to learn in school, which is the whole purpose of primary education. At 65 I can still add, subtract, multiply, and divide in my head, how many high school graduates today, can say that. I've seen men and women in their 30's working at cash registers who scratch their heads trying to make change. I remember doing work for a few collages in the NE. Sitting in the cafeteria, eating lunch, listening to the college crowd discussing whatever, and cringed at the fact that not one of them could put together a cogent sentence. I thought it was me, until I had one of the owners with me, who happened to have a masters in engineering from MIT, and he laughed like a nut case when I pointed it out to him. He couldn't believe what this (school) was putting out. IMHO, we MUST stop electing lawyers and career politicians to Congress. Congress was NEVER intended to be filled with lawyers, and it certainly wasn't intended to be anyone's career. Blame we the people, we get what we elect. "Remember, if your government isn't working for you, it's working against you."

Commentary Magazine : Why Both Parties Failed

To RGG49: Do you really believe that it was Mr. Romney's fault? If so, I have a bridge to sell, cheap! Forget about the FACT that he was, and is a decent and honorable man. Forget about the FACT that he ran because he loves America, and not that he had anything to prove, to anyone. Forget about the FACT that the MSM did their best to turn the election to Obama. Forgetting about all this, and so much more, if you're looking for someone to blame, look no further than the nearest mirror. We the people allowed Obama another chance to "fundamentally transform" America, and he is. We the people, the silent majority? I'm not so sure any more. Either that or we've given up the principal that majority rules, it's more like minority rules. If anyone has a gripe about anything, and can get a lawyer interested, he/she rules. Want more evidence? We the people sat silent while one woman and nine, unelected, black robed men threw God from my classroom. One year we started the day with a reading from the Bible, and the next year we were told it's now against the law to read the Bible in school. From then on, schools, the educational system, and most importantly, the students futures have been going down the toilet. My take is this, either God Himself has allowed this to take place, to test us, or we the people just don't give a crap about America any longer. It seems that over 30% of US stayed home on election day, that would've been more than enough to swing the election. All here do realize that there are only two ways to remake America into what she was intended to be. The first, and best way is at the ballot box. To win elections we the people must get off our backsides and GO AND VOTE! The second way is, or should be unthinkable.

Well said Abe, (both posts). It has always been my contention that if the Palestinians were interested in peace, as they say, they should've been spending the foreign aid money on schools, books, teachers, and the infrastructure. Instead, they spend it on arms and ammunition, bombs, and explosives. It's pretty difficult to have sympathy for that mindset.

Commentary Magazine : The Newtown Massacre and Mike Huckabee’s Offense

I believe that we the people have only one more chance to get this right, before we loose America for good. We started our school day the same way, every day. We had a reading from the Bible, a Psalm or Proverb, (nothing that could be mistaken for forcing christianity on anyone), then, we ALL stood, hand over hearts, and recited the pledge. After giving HONOR to G_d and country, we were ready to learn. We learned boring stuff, like English, and Math, and Social Studies, and History, and Geography, and even had time for silly things like, uh, Health, and Biology, and Art, and Music even. I'm 65 years old and can still add, subtract, multiply, and divide in my head, how many of today's high school graduates can say that. To add insult to injury, my favorite kids show was Hoody Doody. Remember at the end of each show, either Hoody or Buffalo Bob would take a close up and say these horrible words, "Now kids, don't forget Church or Sunday School". As a kid growing up, we went to church every Sunday, and you know what?, most of the kids in my neighborhood did as well. We respected our elders, as quant as that sounds. I would never think of calling an adult by their first name, we were taught manners, in school, and at home.

Commentary Magazine : Kindertotenlieder

HillelA posted this gem. "Enough words! Time for action -- gun control action! There is no reason for civilians to possess military weaponry. Restore the assault weapon ban!" No sir, not enough words, not nearly enough. The facts do not back up your premise, you're misguided in your emotional response. People like this boy, do not care about the "laws" you pass, nor do any criminals. These people will get guns, knifes, explosives, or something else to kill when that little voice inside tells them to. Try using a little common sense and think about a different outcome in Con. The gunman shot or broke his way into the school. First stop, the main office. If just one person in that office was trained in and had a weapon, 20 precious little lives might still be with us today.

The Heritage Foundry : Liberal Welfare State in Decline

Oskie? I believe you're right in what you say. There is another path to consider, one that was laid out long before Obama came along. We the people have the right, no, the obligation to not only challenge our government, but to dismantle it and start over. Although I never thought I'd see America go down this far, I doubt that Americans are going to stand for much more. When the middle class starts to (feel) the crunch of being "brought down to size", they WILL fight back, one way or another. Let's just pray that it doesn't come down to the "another".

Something tells me that the Muslims in the ME don't want peace at all, in fact, just the opposite, they've stated they want to wipe Israel off the map, many times, in public. Why Israel doesn't give them the fight they desire, and end this thing once and for all, is what I can't understand. If people are willing to turn a blind eye to the barbarianism of Islam and make excuses for uncivilized behavior, then they will have to live with that stupidity, or die with it.

Commentary Magazine : Report: Help in Benghazi was Available, Waved Off

4 Americans were sacrificed to Allah, so the muslims don't get offended. We the people must fix this. America was never intended to be this way. Our founders left us with the model to follow, citizen government. We should stop electing lawyers and start electing more Joe the plumbers, and Sally the librarians, the Ethel the accountants, etc. etc. You get the idea, besides, Congress was never intended to be anyone's career. We still have the remnants of the "good old boy's club" where Congress did whatever the hell they wanted, and took what they wished. They concocted thousands of pages of (laws), which they admit they don't really understand, and they exempt themselves from the very laws they demand we follow. Am I missing something here? Does someone think someone else is pretty stupid? Do these lawyers and thieves that steal from us, lie to us, and make fools of us, think that because we've not tar'd n featherd em YET, that we the people are not serious about changing the way government works. As it is, government seems to think that we the people work to provide government with the funds it deems necessary. In fact, we don't NEED a building full of government workers doling out education dollars as they see fit, and, of course, keep a little for their selves. That is the core reason why we're broke. We don't need 3 vice presidents in charge of paperclips working for the dept of ED. We must, of course rid America of all those who believe that America needs to be "fundamentally transformed". BUT, we must also begin to retake OUR Congress. Lawyers have been running things for a long time, and they aren't doing so good. Let's give some other skills a chance at the wheel.

Continued from the reply to JTP The problem is that we've been programed to believe that one must have little letters after one's name to be taken seriously. What we call Congress is a joke, a den of lawyers and thieves. We the people must not remain silent any longer. America is at stake, nothing less. We who are living must take on the mantle. We must become the greatest generation. We must take up the fight for this great country. So many millions of our countrymen and women have paid their all for her, can we do any less?

Big Government : MiniTuesday: If Romney Loses and if Romney Wins...

I still think New is the only candidate who has the stones and the where-with-all to take on the Axelrod machine that's coming. Understand folks that Axelrod is no lightweight. This man has been in the trenches for a long time and has no compunction about fighting dirty. We must not make the mistake of ignoring the first rule of battle, "never underestimate your opponent". The Bamster has a lot of friends in low places and I doubt that he is going to have a total change of heart in November. We the people MUST remove this America hating SOB from the White House. He has disgraced the office and ignored the oath he swore to uphold. He told us beforehand his intention of "fundamentally transforming" America. He is keeping his word, and destroying this great country in the process. He MUST be stopped. We the people, the former silent majority, need to help our new President by beginning the process of ridding Washington DC of the den of lawyers and thieves we jokingly refer to as OUR Congress. Congress was never meant to be a career. We must also demand an end of the lobby. America is worth it and she's in big trouble. We, the patriots, must put an end to the good old boys club in Congress, and elect a President who loves America.

Big Government : Uncommon Knowledge Special Edition: Newt Gingrich

Newt, imo, is the only real choice. He is the only candidate who has the experience and the stones to take on the Axelrod machine, (and don't think for a minute that it isn't coming). Newt is well aware of what's to come if he is our candidate and he doesn't need to run for office, he can retire quite nicely. Folks, the 2012 election may just be THE most important election in America's history. We the people WILL choose whether America will be "fundamentally transformed" or will remain the "land of the free". It is that simple. There are no take backs. This is not a drill. Nothing less than the future of America is at stake. Your children's future, my children's future. If we the people quibble over our candidate's qualifications, or wait for Jesus, (the only perfect candidate), we WILL loose America for ever. We MUST remove this America hater from the White House, along with all of his henchmen. We the people MUST help our next President by beginning the process of riding DC of that den of thieves and lawyers we jokingly refer to as Congress. Replacing them with regular citizens the way it was meant to be. The founders gave us the proper model, citizen government. Congress was never meant to be a career. Joe the plumber is running for Congress, we need many more Joe the plumbers, and Mary the librarian, and Sally the homemaker, and Pete the pipefitter, and Ralph the accountant, etc. etc. What we don't need is all lawyers running Congress and sending us 3000 page bills that no one can understand. We MUST demand an end of the lobby and the career politician. 2012 can be a new day for America. We the people can take America back. In fact, no one else can do it. The former silent majority cannot remain silent any longer. We must defeat Obama. Thank you.

Godfather Politics : How Unions Almost Killed the Twinkie

Has anyone here had the pleasure of tasting a Twinkie right out of the oven? Ah, I have and what you taste in the box you get from the store is in no way what that wonderful cake is really like. I worked for a company that did a lot of work for Hostess. One week we had to go out to Cleveland Ohio to do some work for them. To make a long story short, they made Twinkies there and I tried many right off the line, still warm. Let me tell you the cream filling is a little tart and the cake melts in your mouth. If Hostess could find a way to capture that, right out of the oven, taste, every home in America would have a box on hand.

Big Journalism : James O’Keefe Sues New Jersey Star-Ledger for Defamation after New Hampshire Voter Fraud

The number of times fraud is committed isn't the point. If fraud happens once it's too much. Our vote is the only defense we the people have against a corrupt government, and we have just such a corrupt government. Congress has been stolen by thieves and lawyers. Men and women who trade their vote like so many baseball cards. People who make the laws we must obey while exempting themselves from those laws. These parasites take 3000 pages of legalese to confuse us about a law that they dreamt up in the middle of the night, behind closed doors. After all of that disrespect, they have the nerve to tell us "we have to pass the bill to find out what's in it"? Am I the only one who finds this treatment of we the people a little disturbing? Congress was never meant to be a career. Congress was never meant to be run by a bunch of lawyers, most of them are lawyers or have law degrees. The founders left us with the correct model for Congress, citizen government. We need more Joe the Plumbers running for Congress.
