Read the original article-and yet again its funny, that Muslims are condemned by most groups yet we get dragged into these debates when a main religious group(usually Christian) wants backup. well no fucking do, i dont fucking agree, and the writers can kiss my ass!!!!

"I never said anything about the other posters, ma'am, until now." "as nearly everyone here thinks," by everyone here-sounded like you are refering to those on this site-the posters. "For a supposedly 'enlightened woman' namecalling is a bad move, Twiggy" your name is politicalguineapig-hense piggy. tbh i refer to my own guineapig as piggy. however your ability at butthurt and projection about what my supposed beliefs are is impressive. considering what you have revealed about your own personal ideology it is rather questionable which may explain your hosility to others beliefs. however your comments about men on the internet-yes i have seen that too so i can see where you are coming from. i've no issue with you on a personal manner at all, however this site being as it is if you say things people disagree with they will question you so there really is no need for butthurt. you should be aware of that by now.

just to add to everything you pointed out to be wrong-it's dilusional but not uncommon, that he and many other people asscioate certain behaviours with sexuality anyhow. and i also hate this "man up" remark-i got it at work a lot and just found it deeply insulting. how the hell am i supposed to "man up"-magically sprout testicles? oh and that whole girl bit made me laugh-i look like a girl but i smell like a farm!

Hello Allison McCarthy. As a muslima who frequents here regulary i wanted to say thank you for your piece and sorry that you got so much shit for it-i am very glad for writers like you, and if it's of any merit i see in most cases people tend to attack wit verbal insults when they cant handle the truth and dont have an explination for it. Its also ironic but unsurprising-that islamaphobes hide behind the shield of "we hate muslims for the way they treat their women" yet all their comments about you have been mysoginistic. oh the projection! Allison, i applaud you and say keep up the good work!!!

Womanist Musings : Comedian Kevin Hart Jokes About "Strong Black Women"

Here here Leon L, very true! though i would like to add its not just educated guys but a LOT of men in general think they are automatically entitled to a woman because they feel the universe owes them one for simply being born! the objectification and dehumanisation of women through culture and society have underscored this notion as well as contributing to rape culture also.

Womanist Musings : When White Men Want to Say the N Word

this reminds me of my brother in law who, btw, is a white cis gendered rich man and really does not understand his privlidge and likes to deny it at times.) who would say racist and sexist things and then explain it away as "i have worked helping black people back into work and have helped/dated rape victims so i am not being racist/sexist". this conversation came up when he made fun of my sexual assult-although i dont even like to call it that because apparently its an insult to "real rape victims" (funny-i never actually made that comparison-he did when he was trying to justify his making fun of it). surely if you are someone who has gone to the trouble of learning about the hardships others face surely that makes it EVEN WORSE when you make light of it-it doesnt give you a free pass to be an asshole. fuck i am seething right now. sorry for my rant but stuff like this makes my blood boil.

while i agree with your sentiment on how patriarchy constructs what is "correct" and "not correct" for men-the repercussions are not as severe - as you make out-at least on sports stars like you quote. david beckham-has done a lot more of that kind of thing and still hes a respected star. and what about dennis rodman?

Womanist Musings : PeTA Advertises That Sex Which Harms Women is a Reason to go Vegan

thats exactly what i meant Ruchama. i thought i made my position clear in my original comment but i will reliterate. A lot of people who defend peta use the old "but at least they are helping animals/they do it because they care about animals!" when the truth is they do not. they euthanise many animals for one. it is important to make this distinction as it takes down the one excuse they use as a shield for they absolutly disgusting advertisements. the other point which i was making was even if peta did in fact help animals, that stilln does not excuse nor give them the right to degrade groups of people, especially when those people are marginalised themselves and engage in the isms you aptly listed. so basically i am very much in agreement with your stand on peta (they really make my blood boil), i was diagreeing with the sentiment they they help animals. they dont.

Renee, i agree with this except the last part- "Saving animals does not have to mean engaging in any and every ism"-because peta dont even do that.(of course if they did like still no excuse for this ad) with the amount of animal they euthanise they have no position to be preaching to anyone else let alone using this type of awful advertising to do it with!

as a mixed race woman who people take for being white, i have found this issue with hueism however-i've gotten this not from inside my community but from outside of it. the pakistani friends i have accept me for who i am as they know pakistani's come in various skin tones as do all races, but its been non pakistani people who have accused me of being a liar. i think this has to do with my faith-being muslim as well because there is a very stereotypical view of what a muslim looks like and when i tell people i am always asked "what was your original name before you converted" if they dont already assume i am joking with them. the one positive thing though is i can weed out racists and xenophobes easily-watching their expressions change towards me when they find out is one indication, another is hearing them talk about p****s not realising they are in the presence of one. i am not dilusional though-i would not claim to have the same experience as those whom its "obvious" are Pakistani (ugh i hate putting it that way but thats how it would be put if you get my drift), because i know i havent faced the kind of prejudice my fellow sisters have because of my skin colour.
