Nero fiddles (and plays golf) while Rome burns.

The Russians are waiting in the wings.

Egypt will be a Russian client state again.

Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Tunisia, Syria and now Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

The corruption in Washington reeks of decay.

Political generals, incompetent security advisors, imbeciles at State, a depleted and exhausted military.

Sending McCain and Graham to threaten the Generals was the last straw.

We get what we deserve. We elected this man - twice - and now I fear our nation will pay the price.

The Bunche report and preferences are interesting historical opinion which ignores the many international promises and agreements preceding the founding of the Jewish State; it is also invalidated by the 1947 UN vote to create two entities - Arab and Jewish - plus the result of the wars of 1948, 1967, 1973, 1982 and 2006. It is also invalidated by several subsequent UN resolutions and signed agreements between the parties largely ignored by the Arab side. It also cannot take into account the results of the first and second Intifadas. History and war have a way of making facts on the ground real and often irreversible. Despite intense pressure from the EU and the US, I doubt the Israelis will agree to give up much. Realpolitik drives their negotiating position, and, of course, the unresolved issues of a resurgent Al Qaeda, Hezbollah on the Golan and, ultimately, the Iranian nuclear program will determine what Israel does or doesn't do.

Except maybe the people who actually live there armed with nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them; something many conveniently forget.

The genie in the bottle and China and North Korea's worst nightmare is the ongoing re-militarization of Japan. Japanese development of a nuclear weapon, likely plutonium based, is fully within their capacity if they have not already done so secretly. The new Prime Minister of Japan is fully in synch with the Japanese military which has been openly expanding their capacity for the past five years to not merely defend Japan but undertake "overseas operations". The withdrawal of the U.S. Marine air wings and ground troops from Okinowa to Guam which will take place on schedule over the next 3 - 5 years will remove any bar from further Japanese need and desire to fully re-militarize. This is not to minimize the impact of South Korea acquiring a nuclear weapon, but it pales by comparison to similar Japanese actions.

Europe has been and still is a waste of time and money. We should have fed them piece meal to the Soviets so that our so-called European allies might have had the opportunity to sit with boot of the Russians on their neck for 50 years. Maybe that experience would have been instructive when dealing with Palestinian hypocrisy and Iranian bullying.

Point is well made; this unfortunate murder had nothing to do with Christianity or Evangelicals.

One wonders how Rabbi Hirschfeld would react if a Christian Pastor held up Jews as a group responsible for - let's say - Dutch Jew's involvement in the slave trade. An extreme example certainly, but no less offensive then holding Evangelical Christians responsible as a group for the murder of a gay man in Mississippi. The Rabbi should star in a re-make of "Dumb and Dumber".

Eurabia and Londonistan are a waste of time; we should have saved our money and treasure and fed them to the Russians piecemeal after WWII. Perhaps living under the boot of the Soviets for 50 years would have sobered them up.
