Crazy over-the-top liberals running wild. Corvallis has too many of them, so a "blackout" becomes a racial issue. And btw, I'm liberal too. But going too far on either side is just ignorant and that's what the population of Corvallis is...too far right or left. Common sense be darned.

Cliff, man cmon!!! I've heard you explain why the sound is so bad on these videos and I understand you can't do much about it. But my gosh, if you watch it before posting it, then you should know how bad it is. Riley video is fine. DeCarolis video is completely impossible to understand 90% of what he says. SO, rather than saying "hey watch/listen to this" just give us some of the quotes. I would love to know some of what he said, but still have no idea.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Early Day 3 notes

Angry - That statistic tells half the tale. Of his 51 punts, 19 were downed inside the 20 vs. 7 touchbacks. Only 13 were returned for 81 yards (and 63 of that came from the USC punt return for a TD; so 12 for 18 yards besides that) As a team, we ranked 28th in punt return defense. Say what you want, but a lot of those punts that "rolled" were directed away from the returner. Making teams drive more than 80 yards is a HUGE weapon and Hekker is one of the best at that. That is why he's on the Guy watch list. Not because of his booming kicks....that would get returned 30 yards anyways.

You can really see the positive results of the off season workouts in a few individuals. Brandon Hardin used to be a CB in a Safety's body. He's now a CB in a linebacker's body. But somehow he didn't lose any speed. The Unga's are enormous. Gabe Miller looks NFLish. His speed and size really stand out. Interesting - Tuimauinai (sp?) and Collins were the starting safeties with Mitchell running with the 2nd team. Tuimaunai looked great to me. Really moving well.

aaron_ - McCants was moving really well like he did in the spring. I did notice him drop a screen pass but that shouldn't be his role this year too much anyway. I thought Katz and Vaz looked awesome. Mannion really struggled in the beginning, but then threw the best deep ball of the day to Micah Hatfield. Absolutely beautiful. I was really amazed at how good some of our o linemen look. Phillip looks like he's even bigger, but with VERY little body fat. And Remmers has really become a beast. He's huge. Play of the day - Jordan Poyer's pick. 10 - 15 yard comeback. JR open, decent throw, but Poyer came out of nowhere to make a diving pick. (ie Keaton Kristick vs. Jake "The Fake" Locker) Big time play. Throughout the day it became clear in my mind that Poyer, Hanford (the JC transfer?) and Reynolds will REALLY push Dockery and Hardin for playing time. Our defensive depth is the best its ever been. I feel real good about our entire 2 deep on defense.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: OSU at media day

Aaron - As a Beaver fan, you should realize that getting to the Rose Bowl truly has nothing to do with the preseason. In the past 2 years, the Beavs have played the CW to go to the Rose Bowl, and they faltered in the preseason both years. Riley and staff are great at not letting those early season setbacks destroy team confidence. In fact, they turn it into a source of motivation. For instance, I really don't think we would have beaten USC in '08 without the blowwout loss to Penn St under our belts. It might be frustrating to watch those early season losses as a fan, but we should know by now that it won't define the season.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Football TV updates

1. Schedule the games during the weekday evenings. There are PLENTY of other options for a local youth soccer league. 2. Never called you out. Simpy stated that if ANYONE honestly thinks their 12 year old son's soccer league should take precedence over a MAJOR DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL GAME, they are absolutely ignorant to the demands of major college football. To criticize BDC for scheduling TV games is beyond selfish. 3. I don't have a clue on anything, you're right. But this is just common sense. Look beyond you and your family's needs for more than 10 seconds and you;ll realize that.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Football TV updates

I could be wrong, but aren't the LARGE, LARGE majority of college football games played during the day in their time zone??? As a parent of a young boy, I find it a little ridiculous that some parents would complain about Beaver game times. TELL THE YOUTH LEAGUE THAT YOUR KID IS IN NOT TO SCHEDULE SATURDAY GAMES WHEN THE BEAVERS ARE AT HOME!!!! You can NOT tell me that taking 5-6 saturdays out of the rotation would completely destroy the youth league. Or simply scheduling everything before noon on gamedays. And if they're not willing to be flexible on their game times, than complain to them, not a major division 1 football program. Asking a MAJOR division 1 program to not go for TV games is about as ignorant and selfish as it comes. You can not compete without TV exposure in this day in age. Quit whining and realize that Beaver football is a bigger deal than 12 year old soccer, period.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Paea promo, CFL gear

What's the deal with these promo videos??? "I am orange....and I refer to myself in the third person." Less cheese, more highlights. Guys like Paea and Quizz could have highlight clips that would make much more of an impact on potential award voters than these promo videos. How about a highlight clip with their voices over it. The play at the end of this video was a great way to finish the video, but it left me wanting to see more Paea highlights.

What message do you think the players got when she banished Brooks from the program? "Coach...you want us to be tough, hard-nosed players who perservere in tough times, but YOU can't take the media heat in CORVALLIS, OREGON????!!!!!"

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Vegas postgame

Wind or not, we were having plenty of success throwing the ball 15-25 yards and everytime we had momentum with those plays, we went back to throwing the short screens and other such plays. Easily the poorest called game of the season by Langsdorf. Maybe he thought early on that we couldn't throw, but it became VERY apparent that that was what BYU was going to give us. But you can't wait til 3rd and long before you look for that stuff. And I love Canfield, but talk about lacking a killer instinct. HOLY COW!!! How many times can you dump it off to Quizz for 3-4 yards on 3rd and long. ALL SEASON!!! That makes sense.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Cal postgame

I watched that play a few times. The replay had a great view of the play, as well as the official who threw the flag. The defender had his hands on the wr and vice versa. When the balls thrown, its obviously short and the defender has better position as a result. The defender then tries to seperate to make a play and the wr grabs him by the collar and pulls him down. As the defenders knees hit the ground from being pulled down, the ref reaches for his flag. AND YET ANOTHER STELLAR OFFICIATING JOB IN THE PAC 10.
