Damn! Took until page four of the comments to find what I think is a sensible answer. And besides, there is the unofficial reason why the Log Cabin Republicans use that specifical name and image.

If you're a teacher and you're punching a clock it's probably because some shitbag of a teacher has f'ed it up for you by being consistantly late and then complaining that the administrator is being unfair by singling out this shitbag.

Breitbart.tv : DeMint: 'You Can’t Be A Fiscal Conservative and Not Be A Social Conservative'

Good post. When I tell my socially conservative friends that perhaps they're not as limited-government minded when they focus on these issues, they bitch and moan and begin with their smears. I then tell them that I share most of their socially conservtive views on a personal level but choose to NOT want to be someone else's nanny about it, they start to listen. Then I go for the kill: I tell them that perhaps they should try and get their legislative [socially conservative] vistories at the state level of government. Good discussions ensue from there. Democrats cannot shake their desire for controlling other people's lives or getting away from centralized, one-size-fits-all, government [and reasonable discussion cannot be had]. Conservatives can...but just need a reminder every so often.

Big Government : Wednesday Open Thread: Etheridge Edition

So, no one sees the weaker points to this ad? Job security? Through use of government? Really? I understand trashing the health care bill because it deserves to be trashed but suggesting that 500 million trimed from Medicare as being bad? In context of the stinker of a bill, okay, sure. However, a reduction in Medicare by itself doesn't sound too awfully bad now, does it?

Breitbart.tv : Awkward: CNN Host Scolds Co-Host On Air

Most everything you wrote seems very reasonable to include criticism of Breitbart for using the word 'bark' [though I'm not sure where the word 'bark' was written or said]. So I find it rather strange that this post had a "-27" before I came along and gave it a thumbs up. When you first posted, you automatically gave it a "+1". That must have meant that 28 overly sensitive readers did a non-sensible thing to a reasonable comment. Perhaps it was the criticism of Breitbart. If that was the only reason, I think SOME people who read things in here are fairly weak-minded. The only issue I could possibly take with the comment was that he politely asked for someone to stop what they were doing. Given the venue and circumstance, I woudn't have gone so far to say that it was a polite request.

Breitbart.tv : Cleavage Comes to Sesame Street

Boobs and touchy subjects? I'm all in with the hand I've got. Seriously though, calling out the social conservatrives on this one has its merit. Before you know it, someone will be calling for a law against this sort of thing because it violates some moral code or is somehow indecent. And that fact would be pretty scary on a website that mocks 'Big Government'.

Big Government : PROOF: DNC and Team Obama Are Targeting Tea Partiers and Top Conservatives

So, he's got a PhD and still doesn't know any better. I write this because the ideas that he champions have lead to some of the most depressing and dispicable outcomes in human history -- outcomes that have left a great many people begging for an outcome where mere so-called disenfranchisement would be wonderful. Here's a novel idea for Dr. Winkler and those with similar ideologies who really wish to help the needy and so-called disenfranchised: use your own time and resources finding like-minded people that are in a position to help through charitable giving AND STOP USING GOVERNMENT to accomplish what you could do on your own.

Big Government : DNC Plans 'Major' Announcement on the 'Future of the Democratic Party'

By using the term 'liberal' here I mean in its progressive connotation not its classical meaning. They're going to embrace the faithful and the religious voters in an open campaign and then let the chips fall where they may with their more socially liberal base. The demographic handwriting is on the wall for all to see: there's an older population that, FOR THE MOST PART, still dig their social-safteynet enititlements and who are socially conservative bordering on authoritarian. By doing this the Democrats will hope to peel off Republican voters that have this socially conservative/fiscally liberal makeup without losing too many socially liberal/fiscally liberal members of its base. If they're able to pull it off for just another decade, they will have made changes that cannot be easily undone and liberty [and those that love it] will completely exit from the political stage.

Big Peace : Jon Stewart Uses Maxed-Out Race Card Against Ground Zero Mosque Opponents

I have to admit that I found the Stewart clips pretty good at exposing much of the hypocricy on our side. I haven't seen much written here in the comment's section, as of yet, that really rebutts anything in his clips. So far a whole lot of emotion but not much substantive, not even from John Nolte. The debate about this issue and the "will of the people" is fine to discuss -- that has merit as a discussion AND as to why its being discussed. But a call to some sort of legislative or government action to prevent the mosque from being built? Is that what anyone on our side of this issue really wants to see? Applying pressure for persuasion is fine, in my book. Applying pressure so as to get the heavy-hand of government in it -- not cool at all.

Big Government : Taxation: What's the Ideal Point on the Laffer Curve?

"All right thinking people know lower taxes equates to more government revenue." I don't know where this leaves me.
The reality is, is that we have a two-party system. If Murdoch spent his money on the GOP, he likely felt that that was the best use of his money to push the agenda he cares most about. Or maybe, he actually perfers the GOPs message to the Tea Party's. It would probabkly be best to ask Murdoch himself rather than having someone else on the Internet speculate so that, perhaps, you play some kind of half-assed gotcha game, no?

The optimal point to maximize revenue so that it can be spent on programs to buy votes? Perhaps the wrong question is being asked, Dr. Mitchell. How about setting the tax rate at some point so that just the essentials of PROPER federal government functions are funded and NO MORE THAN THAT! Let the individual states do what they will do in developing social saftey nets. You have said yourself, Dr. Mitchell, "tax competition wroks best". I know that you were referring to the various tax authorities in Europe, but the same concept can be applied to the individual states within our federalism setup.
