Yes, I am a college student.

To be honest, my campus is really depressing. The students are, for the most part, either leftists or apathetic. Since I am in Texas, most of the apathetic people come from conservative/republican homes; however, they like Obama and defend him because they view our position as "hateful".

Red Eye is really the only show around that can influence my peers' thinking because they won't take the time to watch the news or read the Big sites. The problem is that Red Eye is on at 2 in the morning here so they get their news/commentary from Jon Stewart and I am stuck arguing his inanity instead of the real issues. They do not think that their lives are going to be changed by "all that stuff happening in D.C." (or they like and support it).

There are a handful of tea party types like myself, but not nearly enough.

Right on Greg! I have a Criminal Justice Professor that grew up under Mao. He said his jaw dropped when he was in high school and heard a report that poor people in America "only [got] to eat steak once a week"....they only got to eat steak once every six months! If that. We have no idea how blessed we are in this country.

Why is Anderson Cooper the only one I have heard mention this new policy? I would think Glenn Beck would have been all over it by now. That video aired July 1st did it not?

Not surprising that she is oblivious to why the majority of the country sees Thomas' words as hateful.

I also find it interesting that in her history lesson she neglects the history of how the modern state of Israel was established, seeming to suggest that they invaded some country that they had no ties to whatsoever let alone ties that date back thousands of years.

Of course the left buries the history of Jay. He does not fit the "racist evil white man" theory of the founding of our nation. Another reason why we must dedicate ourselves to the study of the founding of our nation and our nation's first principles if we want to move forward.

Why is it so astounding that a prominent conservative would have a friend who does not agree with him on all issues?

The bigger story here is not that Rush and Elton John agree with each other regarding gay marriage. The underlying issue is that the so-called "open and tolerant" left cannot fathom having friends with differing worldviews.

I am glad that Elton John played at Rush's wedding and I am glad that they are friends. Politics should not be put ahead of friendship.
