I was so fed up with both parties. I found that I no longer get junk mail from either party and feel that if anything, it keeps em guessing. I don't know if this is the right thing to do but sometimes I think that representatives tend to feel that if they're voted in, it must be a mandate to go one way or the other. Hence, they don't even bother with dissent in any form. I have found that to be very true as both of my senators and congressman are Democrats...Plus the Speak of the House is from my lovely liberal state as well. California has had a democratic legislature for eons now and look at the mess we're in. The only topic I seem to make headway with is the budget and bailouts by simply asking them "would you get out of debt by getting another credit card and maxing it out too?" which usually makes them sputter. Paris Hilton starts the ball rolling on how cute it is to carry little chihuahua's around. Suddenly everyone wants a chihuahua not thinking a thing about if it is the right breed for them or not. Years later when the puppy cuteness (and Paris' cuteness as well) wears off, the shelters are innudated with stray and abandoned chihuahua's. Oh not to mention how many were stolen and/or puppy-milled to cash in on the craze!!! I think that President Obama is trying to put into place, a forced volunteerism that actually pays. Please correct me if I've heard wrong. Well if that is true, it is a farce. People don't volunteer to make a profit. They volunteer to fulfill their need to be of help or to make things better for their cause. I found that in the beginning, I was having trouble with some words but as I progressed it became much easier. As others have said, it's amazing how the progressive's have slowly taken over and how forward thinking the framers were. I think not only is this book a "must read" but, should be a textbook and studied by every high school student in our country. It wouldn't hurt to have it studied by students around the globe either!!! I'm certainly going to re-read it and underline important facts. It would never work because 18 - 25 year olds would probably go on spending sprees but more important, there would be no minimum wage workers in our society hence retail, fast food, etc..wouldn't be able to conduct business. Meaning AIG had already told these employees that they were being terminated after everything got figured out and offered the bonuses as an incentive to continue working instead of using their time to look for other jobs. If this is the case, I believe they should get these bonuses. A company trying to get back up after a fall, would need their employee's or they'd fail completely. Then taxpayers would lose it all. Perhaps this is a way for the Obama administration to rally the masses so we'll take our eyes off all the other more destructive stuff going on. When they're talking about trillions, a measly 165 million is a flash in the pan.
