DEBATEitOUT.com : Will more states legalize marijuana?

See, now here is a comment that I'm just not going to argue with you. I have (nearly) zero experience with marijuana, so in essence, my opinion on the matter is uniformed. I will however, accept your years of law enforcement experience as a credible source of information and carry on.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Will New York City be underwater in 50 years?

Nope, you don't actually understand what I am saying, OR you are just choosing to ignore it because you are embarrassed by the "mistake" in your initial statement. You said: "There isn't enough ice to melt to raise the sea level enough to flood NYC, that is just plain scientific fact! " That statement is incorrect, regardless of the circumstances of how it would come about, it's wrong. I'm not talking about practicality, I'm talking about YOUR generalization, and MY rebuttal to your dissemination of incorrect knowledge. Engineers and scientists have the benefit of working in both the ideal (all the ice melting results in....) and the realistic (how much ice would really melt causing....). The fact that you don't want to accept my ability to present a purely mathematical solution isn't actually my problem. In fact my LAST comment before this was to explain that while this situation is wildly improbable the math is still sound. We don't need a Department of Common Sense, we just need Americans in general to not automatically get angry at someone when they are proven incorrect. Is there enough ice to melt and cover NYC? Yes. Did you make a statement saying there wasn't enough ice to do so? Yes. Were you wrong? Absolutely. Did you present your opinion as "scientific fact? Yup... So while in a realistic scenario (which by the way I am NOT disagreeing over) NYC will never be permanently flooded in our lifetime, barring any major terrible circumstance. But to say there ISN'T enough ice to do it, I'm sorry, is wrong.

None, but it doesn't change the fact that you didn't actually perform any research or crunch any numbers. Do some math, volume of polar ice in existence on Earth, conversion to volumetric gallons of water, add it to the current volume of the planet, recalculate circumference based on new overall volume..... 65ish meters of sea level rise. But scientifically speaking, there IS enough ice that could melt and flood NYC. I'm not a knowledge guru of everything. But I am an accomplished engineer, and I can perform volumetric calculations. I'm not trying to insult you Papdawg, but what you said was empirically incorrect..... sorry.

Actually if ALL the polar ice (2100m thick in many locations) melted, and I mean ALL. Then the sea level would rise somewhere between 190-215 feet. So yes, if all the polar ice melted NYC would be completely underwater. THAT, is a scientific fact.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Will Casey Anthony be safe upon her release?

Although I don't agree with the verdict. You can't really blame the jury. The prosecution is charged with the task of proving guilt beyond reasonable doubt. The jury cannot convict someone on the evidence of gut reactions. And if something terrible happens to that girl upon her release..... who cares?

This is ridiculous..... I would like to turn your thoughts to the 700+ year period called the Dark Ages, where the church basically mandated that scientific thought and revolution was heretical.... You want to live like that again? Toothless and middle aged at 26? Ancient at 40? Science is all we have sometimes.

Great attempt PapaDawg, but Wi-Fi stands for "Wireless-Fidelity". The name was mainly used about 10-ish years ago and was a nod to the of Hi-Fi "High-Fidelity" of the early "stereo" systems you grew up with. Though I may add PC Magazine claims the term is just a generic name which doesn't actually stand for anything. I will tell you this though. It doesn't stand for wireless free internet, if it did, we would all be screaming for the "free" part.

Is he dead? Yeah I think so. There are pics, and I'm pretty sure real ones will leak before too much longer. Does his dead affect things? Not as much as I think we would all hope for. Obviously there's always another monster. It's just that this one had an easily recognizable face.... until the SEAL blew it off. Best case scenario, the terrorists have one less extremely clever planner.

Unfortunately I've seen the pic you mention PDawg, and if it's the same one then yes it is a fake that's been circulating for about two years now. If you get a high res version of it the photoshop evidence is pretty plain.

Obviously money is a keystone of a successful business. It seems today you can't even start a business unless you are ridiculously wealthy.
