Says I've already taken the poll!?? Interesting, since I've been out of town for a week and away from any computer. I do not believe there is a poll . . . I think CNN is just throwing up numbers.

And not one soul in the media has said this. Not one. Not Fox. Not O'Reilly. Not even Glenn Beck. They're all in bed together on this one. Shame on them all.

The term Hispanic is derived from Hispanicus, which derived from Hispania (Iberian Peninsula), both of them Latin terms. The Iberian Peninsula includes Spain and Portugal. Spanish is used to refer to both to the Spanish language itself and to the culture and the people of Spain. The practice of limiting "hispanic" to mean only pertaining to Spain is a fairly recent invention, and today it is true that Portuguese Americans are not considered "Hispanic" by the United States Census Bureau.

Almost overnight is how fast it went... I had a cousin who went to SHA a LONG time ago - got into trouble for pushing a nun into the duck pond. I taught at SHS for a number of years. When I moved there, some of the local 'vested' folk asked how far back my ancestors went in Cullman county (as a subtle put-down). I told them my great-grandfather rode with Nathan Bedford Forrest and ran yankees out of the area so their ancestors could move in some twenty years later. That shut them up PDQ!

SHS, or St B! Bless yer heart... Lived there for years. Still have two kids and some grandkids there. Cullman is 'special,' doncha know! This is nothing compared to what I've seen happen there.

They're saying it's not a fine, but a "shared responsibility payment!" "The legislation would exempt certain hardship cases from fines, which would be collected through the income tax system." So if someone cannot afford it, We The People will make up for it through another kind of "shared responsibility payment" on April 15. Someone needs to be indicted for this lunacy.

True, but earning the license now allows one to prepare today for the 'shtf' scenario tomorrow. While some hams are in it for the pure enjoyment of the craft, which is perfectly OK, many of us are into the Emergency Communications areas and responsibilities. See here --> http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/emergency/ When all other communications fail, ham radio will still punch through. Guaranteed.

Whatever. "California EPA has issued a draft study indicating that there is some evidence from studies in humans that marijuana smoke is associated with increased cancer risk. Studies in animals also provide some evidence that marijuana smoke induces tumors, with benign and malignant tumors observed in rats exposed via inhalation, malignant tumors in rats exposed via subcutaneous injection as newborns, and benign tumors in mice exposed dermally. Studies investigating the genotoxicity, immunotoxicity, and effects on endocrine function and cell signaling pathways provide additional evidence for the carcinogenicity of marijuana smoke. Finally, the similarities in chemical composition and in toxicological activity between marijuana smoke and tobacco smoke, and the presence of numerous carcinogens in marijuana (and tobacco) smoke, provide additional evidence of carcinogenicity."http://normanswei.wordpress.com/2009/03/21/it-is-official-almost-that-marijuana-smoke-is-carcinogenic/ Cancer isn't the only concern. "...marijuana smokers can have many of the same respiratory problems as tobacco smokers, such as daily cough and phlegm production, more frequent acute chest illness, a heightened risk of lung infections, and a greater tendency toward obstructed airways. A study of 450 individuals found that people who smoke marijuana frequently but do not smoke tobacco have more health problems and miss more days of work than nonsmokers." http://www.nida.nih.gov/infofacts/marijuana.html

I know what it is. That's why I compared it with "Cerebrorectumosis," or having one's brains at the lower end of the alimentary canal, aka "$#!+ for brains." That seems to be the problem with a lot that comes out of the FDA and/or the UN. Codex Alimentarius has been around since 1963, and like everything else at or from the UN, is complete and utter lunacy. I do not trust them, and I do not trust the judgment of the FDA.

"The FDA says that Cheerios is being marketed as a drug, because of the claims that Cheerios will reduce Cholesterol." Oatmeal lowers cholesterol, so oats must be regulated because they are now a drug. Exercise lowers heart disease and cholesterol, so exercise must be regulated because it is now a drug. Not smoking lowers the chance of getting cancer, so not smoking must be regulated because . . . I am now a drug? I don't know if it's Codex Alimentarius or Cerebrorectumosis, but the FDA better get its head out of its @$$ or polish its plexiglass navel so it can see where it's going. The FDA just turned themselves into the Food is a Drug Administration.

Couple of points, as you are a little mixed up on your biology: Viruses are not living things because they do not share a number of things common to all life forms. You only mentioned reproduction. There are several others. Second, semen is a mixture of sperm and fluids. The sperm are alive, as are ova, but are not recognized as organisms, just as the cells that make up you are alive, but are not organisms. For Elliott: You said, "...by far the most substantial characteristic that makes our species human is our consciousness of our own existence. An unborn fetus doesn't know it exists, so taking away its existence does it no harm, and is no more tragic than stepping on an ant." The flaw with this is simple. When one is asleep, there is no awareness of existence. Do we lose our humanity while sleeping? How about when in a coma - does your statement still hold true? Can you say, "Taking away its existence is no more tragic than stepping on an ant" just because someone is in a coma and completely unaware of their existence? What about a temporary drug-induced coma for a child who has barely survived a drowning, but may not survive brain swelling unless put into a coma? I could go on with many more examples, but suffice it to say your statement is not very well thought out.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Vent

From Theodore Roosevelt: "There can be no fifty-fifty Americanism in this country. There is room here for only 100% Americanism, only for those who are Americans and nothing else." "The man who loves other countries as much as his own stands on a level with the man who loves other women as much as he loves his own wife." And my favorite: "There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all. This is just as true of the man who puts “native” before the hyphen as of the man who puts German or Irish or English or French before the hyphen. Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance. But if he is heartily and singly loyal to this Republic, then no matter where he was born, he is just as good an American as any one else. The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English- Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian- Americans, or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality than with the other citizens of the American Republic. The men who do not become Americans and nothing else are hyphenated Americans; and there ought to be no room for them in this country. The man who calls himself an American citizen and who yet shows by his actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good American." ~Addressing the Knights of Columbus in New York City 12 October 1915

You have got to be kidding! Getting high (or drunk) and getting killed in a one-car crash means they "were not victims of marijuana (or alcohol), there (sic) victims of there (sic) own lack of fiscal responsibility and self motivation." Suggest you re-read my post. Here it is: "I personally know of several people dead today because they smoked weed and tried to drive a car. Granted, it was not an 'overdose' death, but they're just as dead." I challenged the statement that no one has died from pot by pointing out some who got intoxicated from weed and died at the wheel. At no point in your rambling did you address that. Nor did I excuse the problems caused by alcohol, although that seemed to be the main thrust of your divagation. In fact, my last sentence began with, "Granted, alcohol is worse . . ." I find your inability to stay focused and on topic, as well as the illogical way you present your case, to be very interesting . . . PS: It's "cannabis," not "cannibus."
