Most Americans want real progress and I think we are that historical juncture where something like the No L abels organization may gain some momentum before the next electoral cycle. I may already be casting some influence on both parties's leaders. Obama will most likely move to the center for pragmatic reasons. His appointment of Bill Daley signals a desire to improve his ties to the business community and I think his presence in the White House will be a welcome mat to business leaders of the country. Not sure the progressives of the party like him too much nor the Tea Partiers since they see Daley as part of Chicago dynasty but Bill Daley is not really that much of an insider. His ties are with business communtiy. I dont think this is a bad move at all.

Rise of the Center : The Forgotten Sense of American Optimism

Like you, Solomon,I feel very optimistic too! As a true centrist, I love to see government divided and the best ideas of both parties coming together in synthesis. True progress can be achieved when the best and brightest from opposite camps come together to solve problems and find the consensus to do what is best for the country. Unfortunately, I think it is more popular for politicians to be seen as ideological purists than as true problemsolvers . I

Rise of the Center : We Need to use Our Imagination to find Creative Solutions on Immigration

I am sure if people from both parties put their minds together to solve the illegal immigration problem, that some amazing creative solutions would come up. I'd be intersted in being part of some sort of thinktank that would explore new solutions, but the will has to be there and I frankly do not see the will on anybody's part. The Wall St j ournal and the Los Angeleas Times has numerous articles on immigration. The Obama adm. has disappointed me in this regard. Obama has neglected the Latino population in many ways. The only reason Latino voters stay with the Democrats is because they feel more welcome in the Democratic Party. but in reality, Latino voters's values are more aligned with those of the Republican party. The GOP has missed a remarkable opportunity to take the lead on this particular and pivotal issue and use it to their advantage. If the New Congress would take the courage to push for comprehensive immigration reform, the winds would really start changing for the GOP. But only in my dreams will this ever happen. Even moderate Republicans like Frum are not enthusiastic about this issue.

Your ideas are great but what I dont get is that I dont really see real intentions from either party in getting down to solving this immense problem. It's almost as if it didnt exist in their minds at all and hispanics are taking notice. I am afraid that somethingcatastrophic may happen before something is done

I do admire Andrew Breitbart and his seemingly honest quest to seek the truth, but don't forget that Lee Atwater was the grandaddy of smear tactics and hit below the belt politics... __This is nothing new. The dems are just perfecting his tactics...and the gopers have been taken by surprise.
