In talking with young 'uns (anyone born around 1990), I've found that they have a hard time understanding all the fear & paranoia that surrounded HIV back in the 1980s that was encouraged by the right wing. I was just a kid then but, at the time, I remember thinking there was something really wrong about the hysteria & Reagan's silence on the subject. When I met older gay people after I came out & heard their stories of caring for dying friends & lovers, I hated Reagan even more. I don't care if he was in the early stages of Alzheimer's. His disregard was nothing short of criminal, imo.
