For murder I have no problem seeing someone get the death penalty, whether is was their first offense or not. But there could be some shady areas that could apply for a sentence but that would be up to judge and jury. Rape and child molestation has the same connotation, some of those cases can be hard to prove and for all those possible false accusations that may occur, people have to be given a 2nd chance. Maybe that is the ticket 2nd chances and you are done! Most of these deadbeats don't deserve a dime, but if we actually offer real education, therapy and work skills while they are in prison at least we can say we tried when they get fried on their 2nd or third trip through. With stricter ENFORCED laws and educated jailbirds I see a win win end result, they either become productive citizens or die.

I said this a little over a year ago and got nothing but minus points for it, but I say "Three strikes and you're dead". On all major crimes such as murder, rape, 1st degree assault, child molestation...... we need better education and rehabilitation in the penal system and IF they are allowed back out into society then I wish them a great future, but if they keep coming back wasting my hard earned tax dollars and become a menace to society then kill them before they kill one of us.

The problem is not JUST on the east side, it is in ALL of Tacoma. I live in the "hood" where the infamous walmart shooters lived... I have thugs taking over this neighborhood faster than you know what..... Mount Tahoma has a lock down or two every month because of guns and gangs... and now the city is going to focus on just ONE area? Great!...

I have a dog, two of them, though I think I can only count one of them being a deterrent. I own my house & live only a few blocks away from those Walmart shooters, the type of thugs that have moved into this neighborhood are just plain scary.

I have no sympathy for ILLEGAL immigrants, I can't believe we spend all this money on them, but when it comes to normal American citizens they can lose the bank if they become sick. My parents almost lost their house while my dad battled cancer, in the end he died and his life insurance is what finally saved my mother from losing their house and paying the medical bills. These illegal immigrants should be fixed up, patched up.. and immediately sent back home. I don't care if that makes them less likely to seek medical help, they broke the law and shouldn't be here in the first place.

"A large commercial dumpster stood in the yard overflowing with dog waste." That statement makes me mad. That garbage man should of suspected something was wrong long ago. I work for a garbage dept. so don't tell me he/she couldn't tell what was going on. The animal suffering could of ended a long time back since this looks like it was years in the making. Our dept. calls all the time on things like this, heck it could of been an anonymous call if needed. That company needs to have better training for their drivers, so they can become helpful eyes for the neighborhoods they work in.

16 plus TON garbage truck sliding out of control at 5 mph will still do some damage, trust me. We had a car hit down here in Tacoma by truck that was going perhaps slower than 5 mph and luckily it was a empty parked car. If you want to volunteer your car for an example call WM up and have KOMO air the results, should be interesting.

Three strikes and your dead! I'm tired of wasting my tax money on these deadbeats, they are in and out of the system with ease with hardly a punishment. Hard labor for all prisoners, bring the sweat factories to the USA, free labor! Also include extreme rehabilitation, education & therapy. They won't have the time or energy to cause problems while in prison and when they get out they will truly know what freedom feels like. If they can't get it right on their third time through, exterminate! Maybe only then will people think twice about committing a crime.
