GazetteOnline.com : Second set of cameras on northbound I-380 going up this week

How about just going the speed limit? Maybe coming to a complete stop at a red light before making a right turn? Maybe signaling before making a lane change? Speed limits are enacted to provide a safe driving environment. Knuckleheads that ignore traffic laws are endangering themselves and everyone around them. More cameras, more cops, more enforcement. I'm with the city on this 100%.

GazetteOnline.com : Cedar Rapids mother upset after breastfeeding incident at Lindale mall

Who cares? I've seen a few boobs in my time and I'm seeing a lot of them comment about this lady and her baby. Isn't feeding in a public toilet a little strange? What is so terrible about a totally natural act? And the correlation of breastfeeding to public urination is, at best, an odd statement. A psychologist would have a field day analyzing some of the writers on this page. If you are so concerned that your children see a woman feeding an infant, tell them that is how they were fed (or should have been fed). The so-called uptight Bible belt is alive and well. Tighten up those corsets and button those buttons to the top!

GazetteOnline.com : Higher pay for disabled employees could put them out of work

Another good attempt by Senator Harkin to level the field. But really, shouldn't Andy Stern and the SEIU come in here and organize these productive workers? A good union will protect these folks and get them the wages and benefits they deserve. If Goodwill can't pay a fair wage, these workers will just take their experience, talents and skills to another employer. I always knew Goodwill was an evil profit mongering corporation.

GazetteOnline.com : NEW DATABASE: Updated state salary list

Why doesn't the state just impose a wage reduction on the top salary earners? Well, it is a lot harder to get a top scientist or researcher for the UI than it is to get a $30,000 office jockey for the DOT. The competition is fierce for the cream of academia. It's a hard world out there.

GazetteOnline.com : Has higher drinking age created its own problems?

It is so damn obvious that the current minimum age is not working. Those who want to drink will drink regardless of the law. I guess if we, as a society, wanted to stop the problem of rape, we could just go back to prohibition. That worked, didn't it? No rapes happened during prohibition. How many European countries restrict drinking to those 21 and over? Can you think of one? Of course the laws regarding alcohol are pretty restrictive in Saudi Arabia and Iran. Those are a couple of models for us to follow.
