Glad to see your honest review here. This sounds like a good book. I do wrestle with fear so it would probably sustain my interest throughout the whole book. This is good: "And many more points are simply words of encouragement from one fear fighting woman to another, just to remind you that even though you might hide your fears in deep, you are not alone in the battle." I love the idea of a play tent. Wish I had thought of that when my kids were little and camping. :) Using tarps over everything is definitely a great idea too. We learned that the hard way after getting rained on and having a leaky tent.

I haven't read any of Sheila Walsh's children's books, but I have been through one of her adult books and loved it. And also loved hearing her speak in person! That accent--sigh. I wish I had it. :) Thanks for sharing these resources with us.

I loved “Forgotten God” by Chan (and also Crazy Love). Brennan Manning is one of my favorite authors. He will be missed. Messy Church is another good one I’ve read! The Last Lecture is on my list, but I haven’t gotten around to it.

We sang "It Is Well" yesterday with my church. It is such a beautiful song and such a powerful truth! I'm sorry the wildlife is causing you such trouble. My in-laws had such problems with deer this year eating their garden. Stripped their corn so much that they didn't get to harvest any. :( Praying peace over your family!

I think some people believed Brennan Manning was "dangerous" because he was all about grace. Those who feel safest with the Law are often most threatened by the grace of God. But ironically, it's because we can't keep the Law that we most need grace. Manning understood that so well. I'm glad his writings brought you closer to Jesus too. That's a beautiful thing.

Love this post, Laura. As a former homeschool mom (from Kindergarten-12th), I relate to what you're saying. My girls did well despite me, not because of me. My baby is about to graduate from college next weekend. Maybe then I'll feel totally safe to throw away our documentation of our years of homeschooling. ha. There are things I miss about homeschooling--I did love the community too with its eclectic group of people. But I do love the freedom now of not homeschooling as well. I can read whatever books I want to. :)

What a wonderful trip! My niece and her husband are going to Disney (Florida) in a few weeks and she's so excited. She showed us the wrist bands that do everything for you--get into rides, use as a credit card, etc. Disney has some things very figured out. ;-)

"In order to have an intimate marriage with your husband, you must give up all control of your husband." This is so true. We don't have the power to control or change anyone. We can speak up for what we want/need, but that's it. It's a hard life lesson to learn, but the sooner we do, the happier everyone is. Thanks for sharing this, Lori.
