Big Government : #OccupyAnimalFarm: Factional Fighting Grips #OccupyWallSt

The right to protest is sacred but should not be abused. The Tea Party demonstrated, said their piece, tidied up after themselves and left. I am glad that Occupy Zuccotti Park wants to be an unpopular nuisance. We have nothing to fear from a movement that seeks to destroy itself.

Big Government : Democrats in 'Volcanic' Mood; Demand Higher Taxes

We don't need a balanced budget amendment or a grand bargain to fix the problem. All we have to do is not raise the debt ceiling. Then just sit back and watch the massive cuts happen. All the talk of default is nonsense. Social Security is funded by its own lock box. Harry Reid has told us many times that the lock box is fully funded so no problem there.

Big Government : World War II Was Not the Quintessential Keynesian Miracle

Here is another factor to consider: in response to German military build up several European nations found themselves woefully unprepared. The solution was to buy arms from America. France spent a huge amount, Great Britain spent its entire national reserves. American destroyers would dock around the British Empire and be loaded with gold bullion. At one point Roosevelt told Churchill to instruct every British married couple to hand in their gold wedding rings to be melted down and shipped to New York. Churchill declined. Don't ignore the movement of worldwide funds when considering why WWII ended the depression.

Big Government : Surprise: Obama's Onerous Tax Provision Very Popular with International Tax-Set Crowd

Big Government : Prop 19: Should Californians Legalize Marijuana?

If you really want to stop marijuana you should legalize it. You see the govt has an excellent track record of destroying legitimate industries through over regulation and taxes. But the unfettered pot industry expands every year - that's laissez-faire capitalism at work! Legalizing it would put restrictions on where and when it is sold and to whom. And the taxes would act as a further deterrent. People who think legalizing it would make weed more available are smoking something - it is already freely available 24/7. Vote Yes to stop marijuana.

Big Government : San Fran Chronicle: 'Boxer Has Failed to Distinguish Herself'

My fellow Californians need to wake up. Boxer has had EIGHTEEN years in office with NO major achievements. We might as well have elected the janitor! Meanwhile the state has gone to hell and a handbasket, and the federal govt too. One thing is for sure, a vote for Boxer will accomplish nothing. I can't stand Fiorina, but at least she has run a business and understands the regulatory nightmare that Boxer has enacted,

Big Government : GOP Releases 'Contract With America', Ver. 2.0

Words of wisdom. Yes these two things would make a huge difference. Term limits would eliminate the career politicians who always need to raise money from lobbyists to finance their re-election. Tort reform would make Americans more attractive employees and would help solve the illegal immigration problem. You should write the document attila!

This is a step in the right direction, albeit a small and timid step, so it merits some restrained applause. Of course we would prefer a stronger document, but you have to bear in mind that an election is imminent, and we do not want to scare away potential voters. Remember the Democrats have failed so spectacularly that the GOP doesn't have to produce ANY policy statement and can still win. A GOP takeover is a nice idea, but the reality right now is an alliance. So we should show some unity and give this document our support.

Big Government : Obama's New Stimulus Schemes: Same Bad Song

No matter what the problem is, the solution is always the same - huge spending, complex rules and more power to Washington. There are plenty of ways to stimulate the US economy that don't cost a dime - simplify the tax return, repeal Sarbanes Oxley, Patriot Act etc. When is this government going to do something other than tax and spend?

Big Government : Economic Lessons From the Summer Swoon

Ultra low interest rates are supposed to deter saving but boost borrowing and spending and hence boost the economy. Yet the opposite has happened - the US savings rate has risen from 1% to 6% and banks are refusing to make loans except to the government which is spending like there's no tomorrow. Hoenig is right - interest rates should go higher. This would give banks more incentive to make loans to the private sector and will slow the expansion of government.

Point taken. But your kids are American right? They can run for prez even though they were born overseas. Silly law really, it says that John Lindh the American Taliban can run for prez, but Arnold Schwarzenegger cannot. Some of the best presidents ever were not born American, like Washington and Jefferson.
