it is only possible to go to a firmware version that is being signed by apple or that you have saved, the iphone will not accept anything other than this, that is the point of sauriks shsh server, if you have shsh files for your iphone then you can restore to 3.1.2

if she has her shsh files one file with sauriks server she can use those to restore back to 3.1.2 and re-jailbreak edit: woops 3g doesn't have shsh files so you should be able to just restore to 3.1.2 and jailbreak from there

Unfortunately this is not an issue of hacking itunes, its an issue of the iphone not accepting a firmware file that hasn't been signed by apples server(only they have the code for creating signatures and it is not possible to duplicate) sauriks server is basically a man in the middle attack on this, in that it is capable of storing old firmware signatures which are unique to every iphone so when apples server no longer responds to requests for vulnerable sig files sauriks still will, so unless someone manages to steal apples code for creating signatures(very very unlikely) the hash storage system is all that will work

apple should still be signing 3.1.2(if they arent read about how to change the shsh server to saurik's) so just shift click in itunes and select the 3.1.2 ipsw and it should work
