Commentary Magazine : Paul Ryan and Liberal Glee

Race doesn't matter when a Republican chooses someone - the media would not have cared about Rubio being Hispanic. Republicans are always pilloried for race, no matter what. Take any black conservative as an example - liberals and the media demonize them.

Breitbart.com : Chain restaurants will make kids menus healthier

"First lady Michelle Obama last year attended a National Restaurant Association meeting in Washington and pleaded with them to take a little butter or cream out of their dishes, use low-fat milk and provide apple slices or carrots as a default side dish on the kids' menu." But butter and cream and whole milk might keep them from feeling hungry an hour later... High-carb diets suck.

Breitbart.tv : MoveOn Coordinator Caught On Tape At Union Rally: Tea Party Driven By Racism

I work in our large town with the children of utterly broken and dysfunctional homes. One mother has 10 children. All completely neglected and abused. But she gets paid for popping them out, so she does. This young man thinks it's racist to not support her. Four of the children were removed from the home last week because the abuse just got too terrible. There's an answer, and it's his hated nemesis, real family values. When we pick up these kids, the four-year-old asks, "are you married?" "do you sleep in the same bed?" But she still calls my husband my boyfriend.

Big Government : Personal Is Personal, Even for a Congressman

Just a note about TPP: I was a fired-up tea partier, and I created bumper stickers with an outline of a revolutionary soldier and words that said: "Tea Party Patriot" in a nice Americana script. A few customers at Zazzle would buy them for their cars. Several months went by, and "Tea Party Patriots" asked Zazzle to stop, claiming copyright infringement. (At the time, they didn't have a patent on the name, though). All the "Tea Party Patriot" stuff went away on that day. A lot of people had worked hard to make creative stuff for the Tea Party movement. This is a true story. I'm not bitter about it, but I was a little discouraged. I went from fired up to thinking ordinary people would be shut out, so I didn't feel as excited about participating any longer.

Big Journalism : Hubris and Humility: David Weigel Comes Clean on Washington Post, the D.C. Bubble, & the 'Jou

Mr. Weigel, I'm a mother of three. My husband goes to work every day, I work with my children and with other children, basically for free. We scrape by, we don't have "access" to "important" people like you do. We tithe and give to charity as much as possible. We cook for the homeless, we work in inner city ministry, we do our best to love our neighbor. We believe in individual liberty and limited government. We as a family welcome immigrants with open arms and work in our community to teach them the language of our country and help them find jobs. We also believe in the rule of law. "Open borders" are a joke to anyone with an ounce of common sense. I believe in fiscal responsibility and I am working with my local Tea Party solely for the reason that I don't want our government to go bankrupt. When you called me a racist, you lost me forever. I was deeply hurt on behalf of myself and my whole family. It was very personal. It's the worst thing you can call someone but you simply did not care. I hope you are able to make a living, but you ought to be deeply ashamed of your behavior. And I wonder if you really are.

“This is a sad, sad case for the little kids who should have been in school,” Tehama County District Attorney Gregg Cohen said in a statement. I know I just posted, but this really gets under my skin. A 6, 7, and 8 year old are not going to die if they miss a few days of school. Public school is glorified babysitting at that age.

Big Journalism : Stop the Presses! Associated Press Discovers Epidemic Of Diaper Rash As Feds Investigate

We found that any other diaper besides the 'cruisers' by Pampers gave our babies a terrible rash. Also, we used the soft cloth-like wipes from Costco - the Kirkland brand. There are similar generic brands in grocery stores. Any of the harsh, papery wipes give our babies a rash. When we stuck with those two products, our babies were absolutely fine. Try wipes on yourselves and see how they feel. Some of them will give grownups a rash. Another thing to avoid was citrus drinks. We usually did, anyway, but if you have an older toddler sometimes they get orange juice and such. It was trial and error. But when I see a baby with a rash, I recommend changing diapers or wipes to the mothers. All the gooey gunk to prevent rashes just don't seem to help.

Big Journalism : Finding the Right Balance Among Religion, Free Speech, and Humor

The thing is, Jesus told his disciples the truth. He told them they would be persecuted. But his disciples also learned about love -- in fact, that was the whole point. I can't understand a faith that fears man. Faith in God means trusting God to handle insults against Him. But in fact, there is no similarity between Islam and Christianity. Islam is about works. Christianity is about the utter depravity of man and the redeeming sacrifice of Christ on man's behalf. It's all about trusting Christ.
