The problem is that some things are felonies for absolutely no reason. Like drug possession. Most ridiculous felony ever. But somebody would lose all their rights for it. That's messed up.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Will the music industry survive despite piracy's growth?

Since most musicians get the majority of their money from tours, if I'm not mistaken, I doubt the music industry will suffer because of "pirating". "Pirating" gets the name of a musician out there, which is the principal thing, and if somebody likes their music, they'll pay to buy the CD/iTunes folder of the songs they like.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Should kids be allowed a Facebook account?

"Allowed"? Allowed by whom? The government? Why should children be any more under the government's control than adults? By their parents? That's up to the individual parent. By Facebook itself? It's easy to lie to them. I know many kids who have done it. You're not going to keep kids off the internet. It's a useless venture that will only take away time and energy from arguably more important things.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Should the Karzai government negotiate with the Taliban?

The Taliban, which makes up at least a proportion of the population there in Afghanistan, has to be gotten rid of somehow. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em...sort of. There's no reason Karzai shouldn't at least attempt to reduce bloodshed by sitting down and listening to the Taliban. Now if we could just find an actual Taliban leader...

DEBATEitOUT.com : Should airline pilots be armed?

So I asked my mom about this, and she says that she never say anybody on marijuana get violent. Just so you know, she grew up in a druggie home, and her parents and all their friends used drugs. A lot. Including marijuana. Alcohol is, stastically, by far the more lethal and violence-inducing drug of choice...and they serve that on planes. In any case, that all seems a bit irrelevant to the original question.... I think airline pilots should be able to be armed if they so desire. And I think that, in some cases, even the passengers should be allowed to carry guns. Not that a good teacher in karate wouldn't be as effective, but the option should be there. But in any case. Yup.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Has airport security gone too far?

So, I suppose it's no surprise that I agree with SunTzu on this one. Once we start legislating against certain religions, it's only a matter of time before other religions also get banned or some such.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Should the U.S. have mandatory military conscription?

Well, as I plan to never enlist, I suppose I'll just let it go at that. :D I do wish more soldiers would resist the blatantly unconstitutional orders we have coming out of Washington right now... >.>

It doesn't mean I disagree with the soldiers themselves, but the institution of the military itself, and what that institution is used for. As for what I disagree with, I could go on and on, but I'll give you the quick version... Politically, I greatly disagree with the uses our military has historically been put to. I also am of the opinion that not having a standing army would much better suit the principles America was founded on- personal liberty, etc. As to the moral part of the question: I am a Christian. Many like to claim America is a Christian nation. There's something wrong with a Christian nation that likes to blow people up. As a Christian, I do not want to be part of an institution that does that. :)

No. It's a rather silly idea that would limit personal freedom and expansion. I don't want to have to waste two or more years of my life in a governmental force that will not fit my goals in life. (I am also a Christian who believes war shouldn't be propagated by a supposedly "Christian" nation, but that's a whole 'nother ball of wax.)

DEBATEitOUT.com : Are libertarians anarchists?

That depends on who you talk to. I have a libertarian friend who is an anarchist. Then I know another libertarian who's close to a Republican on many issues. It just depends. Most libertarians (what I suppose could be called the 'mainstream' of libertarianism) think that government should not be intimately involved in the everyday life of citizens. There is a difference between limited government function and the government "not doing anything."

I have candidates that I support...unfortunately, I'm too young to vote or run for office. :/ Being a minor in this country kind of stinks sometimes. XD The problem is that people don't really assess their options. They just vote straight ticket, picking "the lesser of two evils" instead of finding a candidate that isn't evil.
