FinerMinds : Paulo Coelho — Day 7 Of The PhilosophersNotes Challenge

This author has come up a few times over the last few months but, as yet, I haven't got any of his books - I think that is about to change! The Alchemist is the one I was recommended to read first and I will be in town tomorrow morning to source a copy. Having the courage to follow dreams and the signs is what really stood out for me today. I think I already do this but because of the way it stood out, perhaps I'm not doing it at the moment to the extent I ought to be..... Some brilliant comments fellow challengers; thank you :o)

"..... where my deepest and most profound desires are concerned, that is the Universe speaking through me. ... Like it's the Universe that needs this to happen and it chose me as the host. Now it's my responsibility to bring it to the world." Wow! Powerful stuff John but what a way to get ourselves motivated :o)

(big smiles) I can relate to this one; when I say 'we'll see' my son instantly interprets that as a 'yes'! Think I will try your approach and change it to a definite yes or no from now on...

Gosh, so many things came to mind when I was listening to Brian and then reading the pdf for the notes. That we have been trained in the wrong way to be in this world - so true! In agreement with Brian's comment on people talking about others (me?) and that it says more about them as a person, I have a poem on my wall that is signed 'Minerva' - a line from it reads "What others believe about me is their story, It tells more about what they think than who I am." Once I had let go of the need to know what others were thinking about me, I felt a tonne lighter! It's a wonderful thing to do, so cleansing; just let go.... I am forever telling one of my closest friends to stop taking things so personally; she drives me nuts doing it constantly! A few more thousand, or even million, people around the world need to hear that one.... Assumptions: we are sooooo bad for this! One of the worst things I have found in recent years to add to the dilemma is texting...... How often have you presumed someone’s mood over cyber space based on your own at the time (or from how you left things the last time you communicated with them?)? Also, it's too easy sometimes to let life get in the way of living and before we know it, we are with the rest making assumptions and not communicating, but taking things all too personally. Staying aware, being grounded, being alive and communicating properly I guess are some of the ways in which we can combat this.... As the world runs forward with amazing advancements in technology, communicating on a face to face basis seems to be seriously suffering and getting more and more difficult. It is something that I have noticed over the last few years and often on a very basic level (not wanting to take a shopping trolley (cart) off someone because you would have to say thank you..!?). The importance of communication is something I try to promote with as many people as I can; from my students to messages in wedding cards. I am loving the Tibetan alternative to guilty - totally fab. The 'main' thing I think I got out of this bio is the commitments I make to myself, or not! Although I have improved in general in this area over the last couple of years, the commitments I make with me and my higher self need some working on.... I don't often look for approval anymore (the very occasional blip) as I pretty much got that one more or less sussed last year. So commitments - strangely I was recently given the movie of the same name as I never watched it when it was out...... Wow ~ what a start!! Thanks Brian and all involved in getting this off the ground; truly awesome xx

It takes time but be patient; I have been implementing these things into my life for some time now and occasionally I still find myself repeating the old habits! Thankfully, those times are less and less and at least I am conscious of them so can correct instantly. Have Fun on your journey. Namaste
