From Goff's words in the story, it doesn't sound to me like he passed the note along thinking it would stay private, plus, according to Baum's facebook comment, the note went from Goff to a mutual friend to give to the Baums - this mutual friend apparently is Tom Chenault, host of the Longmont Matters radio show, who talked about being given this note to pass along on his show both last night and tonight. I would think that if you're trying to keep something private, you wouldn't give it to a radio talk show host, but maybe that's just me?

Polly said in her closing statement that she wrote the note 2 months ago, but Goff in this story said it was delivered to his shop Oct 28 and Baum on her Facebook post said it was between Oct 28-30. So, either Baum and Goff lied or Polly did. Or she wrote the note 2 months ago but held on to it until a couple weeks ago and if that's the case then she certainly had time to cool off from her grumpy mood that she claimed she was in when she "hastily" wrote it. Either way, she is starting to get a dose of what the conservative candidates have dealt with for years from the left.

Totally agree with the debate comment. There is a stark difference between the candidates. One read from his notes the whole debate (which begs the question, was he given the questions ahead of time?) and the other spoke from his heart, interjecting wit and personality. Hands down Baum won, heads and shoulders above Coombs in every way but especially as the face of our city.

But "lots of downtown restaurants" didn't vote, as mayor, on the issue. Coombs did, and it was self-serving and he didn't recuse himself from the vote, which he should have done, had he understood the rules of parliamentary procedure, which he doesn't. This was a fun little experiment, he failed as a leader and "uniter" and he needs to leave. Since no one else is running, Baum is the choice.

And it looks like either Dennis has forgotton, or is trying to direct away from the vote where he was in favor of banning food trucks downtown because they would compete with "his" business (that he is a minority owner in, and for which he is barely an active partner). Doesn't matter if he later voted in favor of a brewery a full block away, he kept foodtrucks for working outside his business and that was a vote to benefit him personally. We wont forget that, and the many other questionable votes by this so-called leader

You're proving my point as to why this very likely could be the Progressives counting on a reaction like yours. According to his wife's Facebook posts, Baum was in the hospital the entire week. Sounds like he didn't have the chance to respond. Can't really fault him for that now can you?

Grinder, last I saw, Baum was a Wealth Manager (ie a glorified stockbroker). And I hear he hasn't worked since his cancer came back. He's not my broker so I can't say that's for sure but what I can say is my broker only makes money when my money makes money, and that hasn't been happening lately so I doubt that he's the Richey Rich you make him out to be. I think Estebanico may be on to something with the fracking except I think Coombs is actually pro-fracking, which is where that poll sounds like (once again) it's not someone local. Could be any number of outside groups, or even, here's one for you, it could be Pat Stryker using this as a tool to place blame on the conservative candidates so people will revolt against the negative campaign tactics and vote for the Progressives. That wouldn't surprise me for a second. Stranger things have happened, and Stryker really IS in the .001% of the richest of the rich with money to burn to push her agenda across the front range.

DH, now that the debates have been posted, have you finally gotten a chance to actually see what went down? It's a shame you can't hear the boos from the audience when Coombs went on his tea party bent. The crowd was quite vocal but the microphones either didn't pick it up or the powers at be who edited the video muted the noise. Regardless, you should now be able to see it was Coombs who was the bully and egotist, not Baum. After watching a 2nd time, Brian mentioned these 2 years off has changed him and I suspect the cancer diagnosis played in to that as well. I saw a different person than who led the council from 09-11. Witty, relaxed, engaged, humble but still a leader. Coombs on the otherhand while still bumbling and nervous, was a braggard who appeared to be reading every answer as if it were prepared ahead of time (and not by him) and still he lost the debate.

DH, one of two things is true about you in regard to the debates last night: either you weren't there, or you're remembering the debate how you WANTED it to be, not how is actually was. You are correct in that there was one divider last night, and that was Coombs, who elicited a verbal show of disdain from all in the audience when he lay blame on the tea party for the problems in Washington. That one comment may have been his political suicide, that and all the back-patting about what an exceptional athlete he is and how we should all live like him (yes, that would be nice if none of us worked and could spend our days riding bikes and swimming, but we all aren't as fortunate as our current mayor). He was totally disconnected and partisan. His true colors shown brightly!

Thank you, Gordon for letting us know who NOT to vote for! Now, if you would be so kind as to tell us who to vote for in the other races, we'll be sure not to vote for them either! I do find it comical to see how you struggle to find somthing, ANTHING to compliment Coombs on with regard to his complete and total absence during the floods. Real leadership is, in your mind, sitting quietly in the corner so you don't get in anyone's way? That's about the dumbest thing I've read since reading twitter.com/seanpmccoy! Real leaders step forward and reassure citizens that they are on the job and working to ensure everyon's safety. Coombs was a day late (or more like 3) and a dollar short. The only vote he deserves this November is the one from his single fan club member, Gordon Pedrow.
