@ C2:
I actually ran some numbers when I heard someone else remarking on the officiating being overwhelmingly in Miami's favor. The Heat have 57 fewer personal fouls (PF) called than their opponents throughout the playoffs (Mavs had 22 fewer PF than their opponents, for comparison) They have 133 more free throw attempts (FTA), as mentioned. On average, Miami has 3.8 PF/G fewer and 8.9 FTA/G more than their opponents.

There are a few potential reasons for this significant disparity. One is lopsided officiating, and another is the Heat players' abilities to draw fouls. After watching numerous games this postseason, it's apparent that both are playing a significant role. Miami is getting many, many calls and no calls that benefit them. Yet, LBJ and Wade are a couple of the best players at drawing contact and getting fouled. Their style often differs greatly from a generally jump-shooting team like the Mavs who had a smaller PF differential with their opponents. It is important to recognize the context of each foul because even if a team finishes a game with 15 more FTA than their opponent, it doesn't necessitate unfair, unbalanced officiating. It's really difficult to accurately analyze the situation without complete contextual logging. In the end, I think a 133 FTA differential is quite surprising. Although, in regard to the main point, I'm not sure what is causing such a large difference between home and away numbers. I'm not so sure it's entirely a conspiracy to get Miami into the finals, but it sure is unusual.

I don't have anything for Schlereth. Reggie Wayne's page: http://www.reggiewayne.com/

Just click on the Journal link. He had a bit to say on Tom Moore as well.

Nice, thanks. It was Mark Schlereth so take it with a grain of salt, but he said that at this stage running actual plays would prove rather useless. He thought it was beneficial merely being together as a team, though.

According to Wayne's online journal, he made an appearance in Indy last week to workout and do a few drills before heading back to Miami. There were 40-50 players in attendance.

It's worth noting the groups are alphabetized. I think Roethlisberger belongs in the second tier of QBs.

I don't think he ever responded to the comments on Manning. I watched the third segment of the full show, and after Collinsworth is finished Florio just moves onto another topic of which QBs are on the verge of making his list.

This was at the end of an article on colts.com about projecting QB success:

"Bill Polian, the Colts' vice chairman, mentioned offensive and defensive linemen as well as quarterbacks when he talked about specific positions that need at least three years to develop in the NFL. 'That's because defensive linemen and offensive linemen, along with quarterback, are the toughest positions to come in and play right away,' Polian said during a pre-draft news conference. 'The change in technique, the change in difficulty of the position, the change in the length of the season, the ferocity of the hitting -- all of that makes it very difficult for those players to come in and play.'"

Exactly. It makes me wonder how he ever worked his way to a platform where he can spout off like this.

That is some confusing wording. Maybe he's trying to say that Castonzo won't turn out to be as good of an LT as Ijalana? Regardless, it sounds like a better fit for "Five things I'm unsure of."

I know that picking up UDFAs is a little different this year, but if McDaniel goes undrafted he'd be a guy to take a look at.

I'm good with this pick. Colts needed a DT. I know a lot of people were clamoring for a bigger, 1-tech type player, but guys like Ellis, Fua, Powe, Neild and I. Williams are still available if they decide to double up on DT later. There seems to be enough closely rated safeties remaining to look at as well.
