Last night the neighbors moved a historic house from a place where it was going to be destroyed into the yard next door. The cat reacted to houses moving around next door pretty much exactly like he reacted to there being a bear next door. He woke me up and demanded that I look, and then when I sort of ambled away after a quick glance he wound around my legs, certain that I had not seen the house! Moving! Next! Door!

Do you think that murder mysteries are a very powerful tool for communicating social mores of a specific group? Like, the reasons people get murdered show a society's secret resentments and causes for hate and then the reasons for murder are BAD emotions everyone in the society has but at least they didn't murder anyone over them. This is why I feel more comfortable with like Christie mysteries or the Barrister novels - I don't have to feel like I am being personally called out by the murderer's motivation. Fun fact, apparently I say "murderbird" so often that every time I try to talk about murder autocorrect is just "murderbird murderbird murderbird"
