I like instrumentals better because it encourages people to be better with the melody and the instruments, instead of having the vocals carry the song. While I'm talking about that, I'd also say that vocals can sometimes ruin a song. A song must have both good background music and vocals to be good. Rarely are there vocal songs that have the vocals compliment the music, as opposed to vice versa, which is my preference.
