“The slow creep of government intervention into our refrigerators and our lives moves ahead.”

Slow creep? I would say that the government intrusion into our lives is as swift as a horse that has switched from a canter to a full-out gallop! Our current Jockey-In-Chief is increasing the speed with his hands on the reign while he is putting the spurs to the citizens who are desperately trying to slow the beast down.

Unless we get back into the saddle of power, it will be very difficult to return this animal to the barn once it crosses the finish line.

I must admit that while I still question Newt’s personal philosophy of what being a Conservative means, he seems to be the only candidate that is bringing FIRE into this process. THAT is what will be needed in the following years if we are going regain even a shred of what America once stood for in our own eyes. I have grown weary being told that we are an evil country that once had slavery. I am tired of having our President apologize for the real and supposed wrongs of the past. I am sick to death of being educated that all cultures and political ideas are valid courses for this country to consider. I am angry that our government and culture are being preyed upon by our ideological enemies within our own country. I am worried that we are increasingly becoming slaves to our government.

These conditions must change! We need a candidate who will indentify and fight the ideological enemy with all of the strength they can muster. We need a plain speaking candidate who will tell the American public that we are a good and decent people. We need to be reassured that the parasitic governmental agencies will be reduced in order to return Liberty to all of our citizens. We need a candidate who will call out the enemies of our Republic, regards of party affiliation.

In short, we need a candidate who is willing to fight the enemy on the ground of the enemy’s choosing, anytime, anywhere on any topic and NEVER, EVER holding back! That candidate appears to be Newt Gingrich. . .Then, so be it!

My original response to your comment used respectful language and tried to bring a relevant point to the discussion without using insults. Unfortunately, you choose to condemn those you oppose as being “full of beans.” Fine. . .

Your analysis of Huntsman being the progeny of the Conservative movement is an example of our problem. While I respect your view, I consider it to be dramatically wrong. I’m sure that Huntsman is a nice, sensible man but that does not mean he is a conservative. Huntsman advised prior to the Iowa Caucus that he viewed Global Warming as real and that he trusted the scientific viewpoints. Not only is the Global Warming viewpoint being disproven with each passing day, the compliance with International Regulations would destroy this country. Huntsman also advised that he was supportive of energy independence which would entail utilizing our natural reserves. Great, but how does he reconcile his Global Warming acceptance with drilling and utilizing more oil? These two views are incompatible. Belief in Global Warming requires reduction in the use of fossil fuels. You can’t have it both ways!

A candidate who has worked for the ideological opposition cannot, repeat CANNOT be considered as a Conservative candidate. Nothing in the Conservative ideology recommends colluding with the polar opposite of Progressivism. Why would the most Progressive President that this nation has ever known appoint Huntsman as Ambassador to our ideological enemy unless Huntsman shares the current Administrations views? Only a fool would think that Obama was reaching out to the Conservative base of this country with such an appointment. Conservatism goes beyond a handful of viewpoints: It extends into the very being of the American soul. Huntsman is a Conservative by HIS definition and not that of the actual Conservative base of this country. His heart just isn’t in it. . .

Many consider the likes of Huntsman and Romney to be the ideal candidates with their moderate viewpoints to be a much gentler way to deal with others in order to arrive at a compromise of our values. It's such views as this that has led to our current situation. Currently, there are as many views of what being a Conservative means as there are ‘Conservatives.’ If one finds the words of Barry Goldwater, the acknowledged father of the modern Conservative movement to be of no value in the quest for a more unified message, then one cannot consider themselves to be much of a Conservative. . .

The ‘snake picture’ is the Gadsden Flag, designed by General Christopher Gadsden and used by the American forces during the War of Independence. The coiled snake is prepared to strike any who ignore the warning: ‘Don’t Tread On Me.’

As for using the ‘snake picture’ with different ‘handles’, I have but one Intense Debate username. I have noticed others are using the same profile photo, since it is a common symbol for those who resent our Liberty’s being trampled upon.

I tend to believe that his candidacy was never a serious attempt, but a deliberate plan to run interference for the current frontrunner. It appears to have worked in New Hampshire. . .

I believe that our problem, as witnessed in our current political discourse, is the inability to confirm what a Conservative viewpoint actually entails. A good place to start the self-analysis could begin with the following:

“Conservatism, we are told, is out-of-date. The charge is preposterous and we ought boldly to say so. The laws of God, and of nature, have no dateline. The principles on which the Conservative political position is based have been established by a process that has nothing to do with the social, economic and political landscape that changes from decade to decade and from century to century. These principles are derived from the nature of man, and from the truths that God has revealed about His creation. Circumstances do change. So do the problems that are shaped by circumstances. But the principles that govern the solution of the problems do not. To suggest that the Conservative philosophy is out of date is akin to saying that the Golden Rule, or the Ten Commandments or Aristotle's ‘Politics’ are out of date. The Conservative approach is nothing more or less than an attempt to apply the wisdom and experience and the revealed truths of the past to the problems of today.” – Barry Goldwater “The Conscience of a Conservative”

“The root difference between the Conservatives and the Liberals of today is that Conservatives take account of the whole man, while the Liberals tend to look only at the material side of man's nature. The Conservative believes that man is, in part, an economic; an animal creature; but that he is also a spiritual creature with spiritual needs and spiritual desires. What is more, these needs and desires reflect the superior side of man's nature and thus take precedence over his economic wants. Conservatism therefore looks upon the enhancement of man's spiritual nature as the primary concern of political philosophy. Liberals, on the other hand,--in the name of a concern for "human beings"--regard the satisfaction of economic wants as the dominant mission of society. They are, moreover, in a hurry. [T]heir characteristic approach is to harness the society's political and economic forces into a collective effort to compel ‘progress.’ In this approach, I believe they fight against Nature.” - Barry Goldwater “The Conscience of a Conservative”

While the above does not give specifics, we really need to decide that being a Conservative actually begins as a state of mind, and not political expediency, which guides our actions.

That is precisely what I was implying!

My response to MrNewCastrati:
"I’m sure that arrangements were made at the very beginning of the primary process and Huntsman has served his purpose. What his role was will become clearer during the next few months."

This was my attempt to show that arrangements were used to give Romney an edge in the final results as time goes on. The Republican Establishment is indeed part of our problem. . .

Yeah. He’s a two-bit actor in a political play. Let’s see how his role plays out during the next act. . .
