Instead of criticizing and condemning a dead police officer, why don't you try telling a living officer face to face what you think of him? A person that is alive could defend himself. This really is something. He was convicted of molesting 4 women. That works out to serving only 6 months per victim. Amazing!

His new evidence that he wanted to introduce was testimony by others trying to make a case that all of these women were lying, and were engaged in a conspiracy against him.

A big part of this reduced sentence is that the DA did agree to reduce the most serious charges: First Degree Sexual Abuse, to Third Degree Sexual Abuse, which is only a misdemeanor. If those charges had been instead left at First Degree, he would be facing a much longer prison sentence now.

This case does seem like a miscarriage of justice. For if he is guilty, then he deserves a much longer sentence. And if his allegations of being innocent are true, then he deserves no time in jail.

But why on earth would 4 different women band together to lie about him? That scenario is rather hard to swallow.

Perhaps the press is failing to report something that is relevant? Some factor may be missing, as this sentence is difficult to understand.

You know, originally the city said that this tax was only going to be on rich folks. But now we see that even someone with less than $1,800 in taxable income will have to pay something. Just the process of filling out and filing an additional tax form is going to be an additional cost of time and money for folks.

Sure, it is a graduated tax. But the fact is that it is going to even tax people who are really struggling in today's economy.

This tax proposal really stinks to high heaven.

And now the school districts themselves are going to also put Bond measures on the ballot on top of this, to raise property taxes too???

I don't understand the exemptions for Federal pensions and Oregon State PERS pensions. These people are among the most financially well off retirees.

Why will the incomes of all other retired people be taxed, but not these former Federal and Oregon government workers?

This is rotten, and smacks of corruption among our local government officials.

Besides, why should any retired seniors have to pay this additional tax? Their kids are already raised and educated. They will not get any benefit at all from this tax.

Eugene taxpayers have paid for her to get a free education from grades Kindergarten through 12.

Why should she and her family go back to Mexico, when they can have such a better life living here?
