I completely agree. America needs to make things on our shores again. The whole wall street scheme seems like the biggest scam in history. Only making money for the people in Wall street on the backs of working Americans. The big turn around happens when America once again makes things people want to buy... Actual THINGS.... not bundled assets which have value only on paper.

well, I kinda agree that Obama is holding onto the mark-to-market rule as a last-ditch effort to turn things around. Perhaps, after he gets what he wants. Most people would not know what mark-to-market was, and would only see the big turn around as proof that Obama was right all along. In the day since that last post, I watched, The Obama Deception.... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=788678071... And if you get bast all the tin-foil-hat stuff, it makes you wonder. It REALLY makes me wonder why we have Wall Street people in power in Washington, bailing out wall street for the problems they created.... all with taxpayer money. Getting more in debt is just not the answer. You and I working slugs ARE the answer and the ingenuity of the American worker is who will pull us out. Wall street is only in it for themselves and not for us.

I completely agree.... it is SOOO hard to continue a discussion on a topic that keeps getting lost in the shuffle. It really discourages me from posting.

Per DudeDoug's post below, changing the Mark-to-market rule seems to be a very real and quick solution to the "toxic assets" problem. Without the idea of Obama wanting to keep pushing his agenda through based on crisis, WHY in the world wouldn't we want to value the assets at what they wer worth, and not zero on the balance sheets? Is there a real economic reason?

Or, simply reading the first half of The 5000 Year Leap. I agree with you. It is governmental power grabbing at its worst. America needs to be about allowing people to prosper beyond their wildest dreams. There should be no limit in America. That is what made this country great. Now, if there is a cap to our potential earnings in salary, just imagine the loopholes that will be exploited to get around it. And then, the government will want some of that, so then they will increase capital gains taxes astonishingly.

I just posted a thread about this too. I agree, Obama is fishing for policy by tossing out a policy and testing the waters with it.

Does anyone else feel like Obama is still performing electioneering-style polling while trying to run his administration? Albeit on a much grander scale... and with bigger consequences.

For instance:

Obama tosses out the proposal to regulate the maximum income on all corporations, starting with banks, regardless of government funding. He proposes this Friday.... lets it simmer over the weekend(starts his poll). Sees if it gains mainstream attention and if there is outrage (waits for results). If there IS a big response negatively, claim it was "Just a thought" and dismiss the idea. If there is not good traction and it flies under the radar, pass it through and make it policy.

Another instance:

Obama proposes that injured veterans pay for their own medical costs related to war injuries. Let the idea simmer... outrage is shown... dismiss the idea....

I know he has done this on other occasions. Can you help me recall?

So, basically, all Obama really can do it run an election and keep campaigning. After all, isn't that the "Executive and administrative experience" his supporters said he had? Running his campaign for two years...

Is Obama secretly trying to end the program that allows pilots to carry guns?

The following editorial points out that during the last week, 2 million dollars have been diverted from the armed pilot training program. It also points out increasing scrutiny and harassment of pilots carrying guns. Though it might not be the total removal of guns from the cockpit, it is the start of chipping away at the current policy. I, for one, want the trained and certified pilots to carry a Gun. It just makes sense. I do not want any more planes hijacked... and since my confidence in the TSA is lacking, I feel the pilot is the last line of defense. This is just the start of the anti-gun, liberal campaign to bring about change. What say ye?

I'm trying to figure it out too... Either traffic is too heavy and the posts just get pushed down, or the moderation is taking too long.

Glenn touched on this during is big "we surround them" telecast, and I am wondering if there is any movement on it. Glenn stated that after any military mission, the commanders must fill out extensive paperwork on how they did and what they could have done better. A review of their performance. (not sure how often it is done or by whom) And it seemed Glenn hinted that congress needed to do something like that too. He didn't elaborate or press it any further. BUT, I thought it would be a great idea. There seems to be no accountability in congress. Just when elections come up. And by then, the spin machine is working overtime to trump up their accomplishments. Will Glenn be proposing anything additional to review the performance of congress? What say ye?
