Two provisions of the health care reform act are already in place: Parents can keep their children on their insurance coverage until age 26 and insurance companies cannot deny coverage because of a pre-existing condition. As for the back to work program it's my understanding that you would have to have been receiving Social Security disability and applied for the program prior to going back to work. I'm not an expert but you can likely find the information at www.ssa.gov somewhere.

Well, under the health care reform law that the President signed last year (the one that everyone bitches about) you can no longer be turned down for health care coverage because of a pre-existing condition. This doesn't prevent the insurance companies from charging you an arm and a leg, of course, but it does get you coverage. As for the disability issue, any payments from Social Security for a disability are not actually drawn on some reserve set aside for your SS retirement benefits. Social Security disability is based upon the last four years salary you received in jobs where you were paying into the Social Security fund and do have a cap. The "working disability" program is a back-to-work program offered by the Social Security Administration to help disabled workers return to the workforce. Basically, you get six months to attempt to return to work during which you also receive your normal disability benefits. If, for some reason, you are still not well enough to return to work this allows you to continue to receive Social Security disability benefits without re-applying. Hope this helps.

I've got this pair sitting on my computer desk staring at me all day.

I got them a few years ago at Christmas and could never put them away. I do so love the Animaniacs.

I've also got a 12" tall Tick that yells "Spoon!" but I can't find an image online at the moment.

Dear Gnosis: Could you please hack Gawker Media again? It's not like you could make it any worse than it is currently and it might actually improve.

I'm a refugee from io9, Gizmodo and Kotaku (so I guess Gawker Media lost 3 commenters when I left their sites) and just wanted to let folks know I am spending my exile here.

Well, after being a daily poster at io9, Kotaku and Gizmodo for a couple of years I've deleted all three sites from my bookmarks. The website redesign is an unmitigated disaster perpetrated upon the commenters at Gawker Media simply because Nick Denton wanted more ad revenue. The sad thing is, I have adblock on my Mac and I never saw any ads on Gawker Media at all before nor do I now. So, the new site not only failed to accomplish his goal it also lost him at least one more commenter.l Thumbs up Mr. Denton.
