From the clip here on Toast, I was leaning toward sympathizing with/admiring intern. It wasn't until I RTFA that I was blown away by how inappropriate her action was. She was basing her argument that the rule wasn't universally enforced on an employee who wore running shoes because she had lost a leg!

I agree that it's a very good thing to be sure of yourself and have the guts to demand your propers, but christ on a bike, have some perspective.
