I did that yesterday night . update it with itunes. it asked me if i want to update the carrier firmware i said no . tell me if it asked u that. then u close itunes. turn off phone. open redsnow and follow the instructions. PS: do evertything without a sim card. and i still have my contacts , sms , notes and some apps and music .
