True, currently, the USA has that "spirit", but the essence of that drive towards freedom is not being passed on to the youth of our country. If one looks at how they are being educated, crucial US history is being left out. When I taught at a HS, I would ask simple questions like: When did Germany bomb Pearl Harbor? Or, what year did Admiral Patton's army go into Bastogne? (they didn't catch on to the incorrectness of the question) The sacrifices of the generations prior to the current one are being excluded. Most, looked like the "deer in head lights", others would actually give years in the 70's or 80's. The parents of today need to work with, if not, help, oversee the quality of education being taught.

The Dems are just following the lead of Reagan who signed the previous amensty bill into law. Illegal Aliens are not the only people who "milk" the system. I have seen plenty of US Citizens taking welfare checks (our tax dollars) and not blink an eye for their handout. Just think, the IA who has a fake social security number and gets paid via company check actually pays taxes. Now if said alien does not file his/her tax return, and is due a return, where does that money go? Into the coffers of DC. I wouldn't loose any sleep if either party goes down the tubes.

Under INA 212, a person has violated admin rules. Under 8 USC, the person is in violation of criminal laws. If you check public records, you will find that the Immigration Laws are being enforced. Just check the dockets of Immigration Courts and see how many people go through them on a daily basis. The IA topic has made it a money maker for the lawyers who defend them, as well as those hired as Assitant US Attorneys. I won't even guess at the starting pay of a newly hired Immigration Judge. This forum exists so "We The People" can possibly bring new ideas to the sodded politicians up in DC. Immigration Law is a section of law that very few people truely understand. If it is helpful, please read the Immigration & Nationality Act 1952. Mind you, also bring plenty of caffine & tylenol for the headache of "legal speak" This act sets in motion the current immigration policies. It defines what a US Citizen is, sets up requirements for visas, etc. What many people do not understand is that it also defines the "Administrative" and "Criminal" aspects of Immigration Law. IE: All who enter without inspection at a designated port of entry are here illegally. But in an "Administrative" fashion, those that are deported and return again(and many do) ilegally are set up for Immigration Court as Felons.

As far as there not being enough jobs within our borders, that would be incorrect. The IA does the work that the US Citizen (for unknown reasons) will not do. The jobs they "take" are physically some of the hardest out there. Exposure to the heat, cold, chemicals(pesticides), are but a few hazards. Other than in a a foreman capacity, I have never seen a US Citizen working in the fruit & vegetable fields. The construction industry is no better in hring of IA's. They cross illegally because there is a demand for their labor. By use of the IA, at low wages, profits for the company go up. There are many other problems associated with the IA & US Citizen. Human Trafficing has gone up. The exploitation of people has skyrocketed. Who uses these people? Who bypasses the law to buy a baby because they don't want to use legitimate channels? The US Citizen. Whether it is drugs, prostitution, or buying babys, we, the US Citizen helped make that problem. Now, how do stop that problem?

The fence will not stop/halt the Illegal Alien or the drug runner, it does slow them down by minutes. In some circles, it is a waste of taxpayer money. One possible way to slow/stop the drugs from coming in would be to remove their customer base. Arrest the US Citizen engaged in illegal narcotics sale/possession, or does that make sense? Illegal drugs are in demand in this country, by enforcement of the drug laws, a big portion of the problem might be solved. If by Executive Order or some "plan", many here illegally will be granted amnesty. The Immigration Reform & Control Act of 1986 granted amnesty to certain IA's. A new IRC plan will create just as much havoc as the old one. There will be guidlines of course, no criminal history, proof of time in the USA, etc.

The courts have ruled that if the person is born within the jurisdiction of the USA then they are US Citizens by birthright. The "anchor baby" issue is a hot topic, no doubt. The media blasts the financial problems associated with them, without comparing the use of taxpayer dollars of non-productive US Citizens. The legal immigrant does have requirements to learn the english language. If the person chooses not speak it that is his/her right. If one does not wish to learn new language that is a persons right as well. I am lucky in that I am able to read, write & speak other languages other than English. Spanish & Thai. (also a little Vietnamese), in addition to American Sign Language. I can move about in all cultures because I choose to. That would fall under the "Pursuit of Happiness". The media plays a dangerous game with blaming immigrants for many problems within our borders. Blaming people for a problem is easy. Finding a way to solve the problem is hard.

Repealing the definition of what defines a US Citizen (being born within the jurisdiction) is a slippery slope. The INA defines what a citizen of the USA is. With that said in mind, what other basic civil rights would be repealed? Not allowing women or minorities to vote? Removal of due process? When the definition of how a person becomes a US Citizen is changed, there are ramifications for all laws. Would the Native Americans who are born within the USA no longer be US Citizens? Since, by all accounts they do live on soverign territory. The Supreme Court, would not allow repealing select segments of an amendment. The 14th is broad in its wording. It makes a requirement of states to provide equal protection under the law to ALL people within its jurisdiction.

Most of what you propose has merit. #5 would have to have the Immigrantion & Nationality Act rewritten. To deny a child born within the borders of the USA, his/her US Citizenship, whatever the status of the parent, would set a precedent for removal of other civil rights authorized by the US Constitution & the Amendments. The "anchor baby" issue would be less important if the (big money) employers of the illegal aliens were hit with hard fines and court action. Easy to blame(or be afraid) of the immigrant, how about going after the big business people who make their money off them? That will not happen because the average US Citizens' food bill would go up dramatically. Remember, the illegal immigrant does some of the hardest, physical labor that the average US Citizen will not do. They pick our fruits & vegetables, landscape, wash cars & build our roads & buildings . #10 is already has requirements of legal immigrants to learn the english language & US History and be tested on those prior to being granted citizenship. I have met new Naturalized US Citizens that know the history of this country better than some natural born US Citizens.
