Big Hollywood : Liberal Movie Critics Decry Pro-Military, Pro-American 'Act of Valor'

I know that American liberals think nothing important happened in American cinema prior to the rise of the so-called New Hollywood but to call Battleground (the film that singlehandedly invented the war film genre in its modern form) a "poorly made propaganda" flick reveals either bad taste, bad faith or sheer ignorance, unless it's all three at the same time.

Huh, don't see where the leftist agenda is in The King's Speech, Slumdog Millionaire or No Country for Old Men, or in this year's nominees for that matter.

Big Hollywood : Daily Call Sheet: Julia & Meryl Violate the Geneva Conventions, CBS Embraces Streaming, and Leave To

Because he wasn't handsome, at a time when your looks made your career. Had he started his career in the 70s, he might have been a leading man and get the recognition he deserved. It's terribly ironic that modern Hollywood, while ditching almost everything that made the old great, has inherited one of its most regretable witnesses (Why do you think George Clooney successfully managed the transition from TV to the silver screen whereas James Gandolfini remained a supporting actor even after winning three emmys?)

Big Hollywood : Your Obama Apologist of the Day: Scarlett Johansson

Liberal hatred of Bush was not irrational? Are you kidding? I remember some liberals back in '04 thinking that Bush wouldn't let the election happen and instead set a coup and start a military dictatorship (I'm not joking - I dealt online with one of those nutjobs) And what about portraying Bush as Hitler's second coming, even adding a little mustache on his photos? Was it rational (no matter where you stand on Bush's record, Hitler he definetely wasn't)? Bush derangement syndrome was, and remains, a sad reality. Regarding Obama I feel no sympathy for him. For two years he had all the power needed to bring the "change" he promised and NOTHING CAME OUT. And the only excuse he can find is to blame the Reps. Honestly it's a bit cheap. To put it very, very mildly.

"Change doesn’t happen overnight." Memo to Scarlett: Obama has been in the White House for four years. If it wasn't enough for him to bring the "change" why should we believe four more years will make it? Maybe a life term would do? (I'm sure many obamanacs would happily dispense with the 22nd)

Big Hollywood : 'The Woman in Black' Review: Slack Tribute to the Hammer Horror Films of Yore

"But it also partakes of the narcoleptic pacing that hobbled some of those old pictures, and so despite this movie’s stylish design and agreeably vintage frights, it is also, sad to report, kind of boring." I'm of the persuasion that slower is sometimes better, especially in the case of a horror film. Just compare the deliberate original "Haunting" with its frenzier, ridiculous remake. So I'll have to see for myself. Glad to see the Hammer back in the business, though. Let's hope they're back for good.

Let's face it: "Crash" won only because the Academy wouldn't give the Best Picture award to "Brokeback Mountain".
Big Hollywood : The 2012 Oscar Noms: More Proof Hollywood Doesn't Care About You

Mr. Schlichter's happy philistinism never ceases to amaze me. So in his opinion a good film is a film that makes bucks, lots of bucks. And films that liberals love can't be but bad, terribly bad. Also he doesn't like B&W silent films. Luckily other reviewers here are more enlightened for otherwise he would give conservative movie fans a really, really bad name.

Big Hollywood : Hollywood's Problems Deeper Than Roster of Best Picture Noms No One Saw

I don't get it. Oscars are SUPPOSED to be about honoring the best in filmmaking, not the most popular. If Hugo and The Artist are among the finest films of 2011 then they deserve to be nominated for Best Picture, no matter their box office. Oscars have sided with audiences in the past and the results have rarely been very inspiring. Also, BigHollywood people, especially Mr. Nolte, should celebrate the success of a film (The Artist) that celebrates old Hollywood and is free of any agenda or "edginess".

Big Hollywood : Reviewer: HBO's 'Game Change' Relentlessly Mocks 'Ignoramous' Palin

Whatever your stance on Palin - and I'm NOT a fan - the dishonesty and bad faith (unless it's plain stupidity) of those folks are staggering. The author of the article in particular has the nerve to ask us to believe the film is not a hatchet job despite everyone involved being a liberal - as the final paragraph makes plain. Honestly would someone expect a Obama biopic to be fair with all the crew being members of the JBS? Incredible.

"Leftists pick the side of the conflicts based on the political leanings of the combatants." Which means they'd rather take the side of one of the bloodiest dictatorships ever (Argentina in 1983) rather than Thatcher's?
"For instance, the black guy and the Hispanic woman are naturally a couple — can’t have them romantically mixing with Caucasians, I guess." You would think that electing (and in Hollywood's case, supporting) a metis president would've ignited some change there.
