My dad was an officer with the Detroit Police Department for 25 years, and often said that the most realistic police shows ever to air were Barney Miller and Hill Street Blues.
Loved this show---even as a kid, it made me laugh.
Good call, JN.

Agreed; I was going to ask "do these parents think their money can shield their children from teasing" but it's obvious that they aren't thinking to begin with. I suppose if your son Brooklyn plays with Zuma, or Pax then it's a zero sum game, anyway.

Excellent reply----I wish I could give you more than one thumbs up.

My sister has neighbor who named her child Hazel because Julia Roberts did---this child goes to school in a working class nieghborhood, where someone's grandma is probably named Hazel, or people remember her as the cleaning lady on TV----not protected from the world like Ms. Robert's unfortunately named offspring.

I stopped wearing Estee Lauder when they hired her; thankfully, he role is so small she couldn't ruin the Iron Man movies.
Definitely in the "why bother column"-----I use her as an example when someone mentions the Molly Ivin's snotty jab at GWB.

These interviews are interesting, but are any from producers currently at work in Hollywood? Or all old geezers who will say anything to be relevant?
That being said, these pieces do illustrate that this is a long-term mind-set that has managed to influence some, but thankfully not all, of the population.

I think his ex-wife, former Miss America Tawyne Little, might disagree. I like to think he has grown up since those heady days in the 1980s when he was a serial adulterer who told his first wife he did not believe in fidelity.
I've always liked him as an actor, though.

Yes! And the kids' channels are the worst-----Nickelodeon and Disney. Dad is either not around (Shake It Up, iCarly, Big Time Rush, Zooey 101, Ned's Declassified) or a doofus (Good Luck Charlie, Drake & Josh)...I think that it's really telling that former kid actor Dan Schneider, who produces many of the Nick shows, does not have any kids.

Gary David Goldberg, the creator of Family Ties who lived with his partner for years without marriage, probably takes some solace in the fact that Meredith Baxter Birney came out recently, after three marriages;)

yes, being subtle is an art that appears to have been lost. No one ever told this generation that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar....
