Was up on Friday En Route to Donegal and was amazed at the crowds, activities and how well the place looked. It really was a great spectacle, just wish I could have attended a few more of the events. I saw the boats begin the race again from Greencastle in Donegal and it looked beautiful against the backdrop of Magilligan and Benone. I agree the coverage was not great but in fairness the BBC did do a special. RTE where far less interested in Clipper happenings in Donegal (I think a space ship would have to land up there before RTE would ever send a crew up). All in all a huge success for Derry and will be looking forward to getting up for more of it when the return next time. Even the traffic wardens where in good form and let me park where I really shouldn't - a very pretty warden she was too : ) - Good work Derry and Donegal.

If an Eastern European is better for the job than a Northern Irish Person should we just give the job to the Northern Irish person anyway? Free enterprise and competition for jobs is a good thing. Nothing should be handed to anyone or you will just have a section of people thinking they are entitled without first showing merit. If you're good enough you should get work, If you're not then go better yourself, come back and try again. A lot of people crying about Eastern Europeans need to take a good look at themselves.

Have you ever been to the Monreagh Ulster Scots Heritage and Education Centre in Donegal? An overwhelmingly Irish Catholic County that actively supports the heritage of the Ulster Scots community there. Your little paranoid rant just does not stand up. Perception is everything, and the perception of loyalism in 2012 is pretty dire, just read the comments. You might not be involved in criminality, but the dogs on the street know that many are and thats just not good enough. If you want to be part of the solution then you have to stop being a big part of the problem. If you think sticking flags up everywhere, when No-one wants them is the way forward then you don't have much chance really. The day's that are over are the days where people will be intimidated. What is your strategy? What is the vision for loyalism for the future? How are you going convince people you are not thugs? what are you going to do if you don't get what you think you deserve?

If you want people to engage with you then you are going about it the wrong way. The first thing to do is demonstrate your willing to move yourselves forward. You cry that you are being left behind when it's no-one's fault but your own. You think you are intimidating when all you are doing is isolating yourself and your community more. What is it you want exactly? Why can't you get it? And who's fault is it? The fact is, you where too slow evolving to the new environment and now you are all just extinct. You are the reason your areas are ghettos and thats the way you want to keep them. NI is Bigger than a few little "strongholds". If you really want to help the PUL community then you have to leave all your criminality behind. No point throwing the dummy out now and pulling the hard man routine - those days are over.
