You are incorrect about the acceptable identification required in Washington State.

Please refer to: WAC 314-11-025, What are the forms of acceptable identification? http://apps.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=314-...

Also refer to the Washington State Liquor Control Board: http://liq.wa.gov/licensing/current-licensee-faqs and see that US Military ID is listed.

Furthermore, what did my passport prove, considering it is in my maiden name?

The problem was not mine at all. I was able to purchase and consume alcohol everywhere else we went over the weekend using my United States Uniformed Services Card, so therefore the kindhearted bouncer at Buckley's is the issue.

Have a nice day! :-)

Thanks so much for the reply Tasneem! Isn't it odd also how people who have never experienced it themselves easily overlook it when it happens to others? That's why I wrote this, because I don't think a lot of people really understand how it feels! My husband was irate afterwards. I don't think he had ever seen it happen to me in person before.

I can understand this post very well! Dave signed a 10 year AD contract and we have 8 years left of it, so from now on everything impacts us both. Pilots have a lot of choices to make over time, and they definitely impact what their options are in the future, so we discuss this stuff regularly to make sure we're on the same page. It probably doesn't help that I was already an aviation history buff before we met ;-) We like airplanes just the same. We are starting to dislike Air Mobility Command though...

My husband is an Air Force officer and my best friend's husband is an Army Specialist. I don't choose my friends because of what their husband does, or what their rank is. I just like to be around friendly open hearted people who I can identify with at some level :-)

Great post! I seem to impose on my friends if I have to go somewhere important and can't take public transit, and that happened twice while Dave was deployed. Fortunately it was for a good cause (buying the wedding dress) but I still felt a little guilty for some reason.

I just got married, and my ID card is one of the new ones without my husband's full SSN. I like the new feature, however everyone still asks for the SSN instead of the benefits ID number. Change is always a work in progress...

While the Air Force doesn't require decals, we still have a 100% ID check at the gate. I wish the Army would catch up and stop making things more difficult for joint bases. Air Force families who have not had a decal in years are forced to get one.
