Is This Mike On? : Nothing to worry about

Sounds like you will have no problem making it to Friday! I got home from visiting my parents at the beach and Brett filled in me in on how well he handled everything at home. I did come home to a clean house and empty laundry bins. I did have to burst his bubble a little bit though and remind him that I had the kids with me the whole time and he only had to clean up after himself. :)

Is This Mike On? : Can't make up my mind

I helped my parents re-roof their house when I was a teenager and we all had so much fun. I was glad that they let me help, despite being thirteen and a girl. I still can't hear Loyd Cole music without picturing myself up on the hot roof with my brothers, brother-in-law, dad, and uncles. Good post. Working together is such a good bonding experience. One question. What is a cassette tape? ;)

Is This Mike On? : Words in the dark

One of my favorite books and one of my favorite authors. Kate DiCamillo is a fantastic story teller. I love those moments too when we are forced to be disconnected from the electronic world and connected to our family. I could use a little power outage here now that I think about it!

Is This Mike On? : Once upon a time

I love your stories! What you are doing is worth far more than riches. I have had times that I get frustrated with the time that Brett spends on his blog and I start sulking about it. But when I read through his old posts or see my kids laughing about something he wrote I am reminded of the value that these stores will have to our family for years to come. They are truly priceless.

Is This Mike On? : Because of you

This sounds like the thoughts in my head as I read through posts from Google Reader. I have learned much and been inspired over and over reading blogs....and also felt a lot of guilt and felt more and more inadequate. Your blog is definitely on the "inspiring" list and that is because you don't portray a perfect life all the time. You have a great balance of the good and not so good in life. One of the few blogs that seem completely genuine.

Like JaeJay, I am not a morning person in the slightest! I can go to bed at 10pm and I will still have a hard time getting up. I have to get up to get kids up and ready for school and it is hard. Every. Single. Day.

Is This Mike On? : A wasted story

Sometimes the best example is the worst example. I made some commitments to myself, based on the decisions of someone close to me, and I think they got me through my teen years fairly unscathed.

Is This Mike On? : Words can kill you

Lol, I am sure I have some words you could catch me using improperly. Lincoln used to say "lasterday" instead of "yesterday" and I couldn't stand to correct him because it was so cute. My kids all call short-sleeves "up-sleeves" and long sleeves are "down-sleeves". This one I HAVE tried to correct for years and they are set in their ways.

Is This Mike On? : Should have been nicer to me, Jared

It is amazing how these experiences can stick with you, isn't it? When I was a young girl I went to a Utah Jazz game and thought Mark Eaton was the coolest guy I had ever seen. When we went down to the floor to get autographs his was the only one I cared about. I stood at the back of the crowd and slowly made my way closer to hand him my program to sign. I was much smaller than everyone else waiting. Finally it was my turn and he took my program and then the elevator doors opened and he handed it back to me without signing it and then turned and got on the elevator. I was crushed. Karl Malone, on the otherhand, reached over the crowd of people in front of me and plucked my program out of a sea of hands and signed it and then smiled and said hello. I didn't know who he was at the time, but he became my new favorite player after that! Jared Leto sounds like a jerk. I have read other stories of him having attitude with fans and reporters.

Is This Mike On? : The Home of the Bored

Awhile back I started taking a book with me wherever I go. I always have something to read in the diaper bag, car, when I sit outside on a rare sunny day. I don't think I have been bored once since I started doing that. (but I have probably missed a lot of what is going on around me!)
