I absolutely LOVE this tired argument. "he's been in congress for 30 years and got nothing done". When going AGAINST the flow... one can only EXPECT to get NO WHERE. We always hear "we need to get back to conservatism" & "We need to be based on principals"... then when someone with the nads to actually DO IT ... does it... we hear... "They aren't getting anything done". Keep fooling yourselves into thinking that COMPROMISE is the ONLY way to accomplish anything and you'll see your country COMPROMISED. When you finally understand that it takes STANDING UP to the status quo in order to CHANGE THE TIDE... and in that process of standing up you're going to appear to accomplish nothing for a time... until the time arrives that those around you take notice of your standing and decide to STAND WITH YOU and the tide turns. Ron Paul HAS lead the charge on standing on principals EVEN THOUGH it means never accomplishing anything legislatively. He HAS led the charge on Auditing the Federal Reserve to find out just where & what is going on with our monetary policy.... Which happens to be the single most powerful weapon against our nation. When Jesus stood AGAINST the status quo of his time... he was crucified for it... Are you using "fear" to "coerce" a civilian population when you say they are taking your liberties away? Is it "fear" you're using when you say the government is destroying our way of life? 2. to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; So "when" a tyrannical government takes hold... just how will you stand against them without becoming a "Domestic Terrorist" as defined by the Patriot Act?? As we've seen over and over again.... they could care less what you think... they do what they want... at what point do the American people take a stand and in that stand... they, by definition, become "DOMESTIC TERRORISTS". I'm blown away by some of the comments and the references back to the "dot com bubble". This however, is much MUCH different. I'm a network administrator and also a website developer/administrator, I run a small website by comparison but it's a micro snapshot of what FB and all these "social" sites do. I have my users sign up for an account so that they can use my service. When they sign up, I ask that they provide me with detailed information about themselves so that I have a "record" of it to database and use for later purposes within the site and so they can log in with the same credentials in the future. Now... seeing the site from the end users view... Those clients can NOT see each others information nor can they know what service another user has requested from us. From the administrators view... I can see EVERYTHING. I can use that "INFORMATION" to build w/e application or data output that I want to. I can see what pages are being viewed, who uses the site most, when they are on, what they have done while on the site etc etc etc. If my users were submitting comments for others to see (as people do on FB)... I would have to database that comment so that the next user down the road can see it when they load the page. Chew on this.... If I wanted to... I COULD... write a query to search ALL comments by ALL users on throughout the ENTIRE DATABASE to show me what clients use the word "Constitution" or "Right Wing" or w/e term I deem necessary. Point being... these "SOCIAL" sites are a huge database of information on "END USERS". The end user is WILLINGLY submitting data about THEMSELVES (and their habits, thoughts, beliefs etc etc etc) to whom? Just because you set your "privacy" settings to only show YOUR friends w/e you want them to see doesn't mean the admins don't have access to it all. (and you have absolutely NO IDEA what those admins are doing with that data or how they output it on their side) Feel like a guinea pig yet you social nuts? You're adding yourself to a system and data-basing yourself for WHOM?????? Do you know how to predict the future?... you follow "trends"... You get ahead of the curve and the most efficient way to do that is to get a wide shot of a huge population of people and see which way they are trending PRIOR TO ANYONE ELSE GETTING OR SEEING THIS TREND. Enter "Social Networking". This is not a dot com bubble... this is a mechanism for accurately predicting trends and getting ahead of the curve. You're keeping them in power because "KNOWLEDGE IS POWER" and since they are getting the information for "FREE" and well before it is apparent to the rest of us.... THEY WILL STAY IN POWER. You think all this information is not valuable?? I assure you it is extremely valuable. This is not a "fad" nor is it a "bubble"... this is a system designed to keep those people who are willing & able to afford to purchase this information in the "know". They don't have to spend their money on marketing etc... you're doing it for them for FREE. have you noticed yet how FB & Twitter are all over the web, in the phones, tied to businesses etc etc etc? And you wonder why G.S.'s is investing in FB. You wonder why FB is worth 50b. You wonder why they are circumventing the rules. It's the golden goose.
