Inside Bainbridge : Branding Process Not Clear Cut

I just banged out what Hunter S. Thompson might have called a "real hammerhead screed" about this whole shebang, but I deleted it in favor of preserving my own dignity. Instead I'll just leave this here: This whole branding thing is super corny. That is all. KevoTron, out.

Inside Bainbridge : Firm Presents Branding Package Proposal: What They Were Thinking

What a farce. This community deserves this absurdity. Bucolic Bainbridge Island is being wasted on the pursuit of tourist dollars at the cost of actual community. I think the entire problem is that we've been attracting "the right type" of transplants for 30 years.

I know that Mr. Bundy's comments weren't exactly in the form of a question, but he did say "I'm wondering if..." and I'd like to do him the service of replying to his pontificating. No, they were not. You're welcome, Cliven!

Wonkette : Cory Booker Refuses To Douse Hopes That Everyone Can Sleep With Him Maybe

His ambiguity is giving me an ambiguous boner. I'm unsure if he's gay or if I'm gay or if it doesn't matter anymore- maybe we can just do some straight guy boning based on our shared politics. God, I'm more confused than I was during my high school gym class.

Inside Bainbridge : Who Owns Blakely Rock, and Is the Statue There Legal?

I'm reposting my comment from the previous article because I think it is more appropriate to paste it here... I believe the best thing a piece of art can do is inspire some conversation. In this case, Ethan has inspired a conversation about the use of DNR land. As a person who equally respects nature and art, I respect his cavalier attitude and I also think the sculpture fits well in the existing landscape. All of the greatest street artists of our time don't bother waiting for permission to install art. Ever notice how boring and plain government and corportate funded art projects tend to be? The best art available for viewing on Bainbridge Island is not found in the library rock garden or in the City Hall, but in the cement building known as 3T in Blakely Harbor or on the sides of water towers during grad week. This may not be the most "groundbreaking" statue ever erected, but it's in the spirit of our community and I believe it's worth respecting his efforts and letting it stand. Someone above raised the question of whether we would feel similarly if their was an offensive flag on the rock. Well, there isn't. If the Klan starts burning crosses on Blakely Rock I'm sure we'll do something about it. If you find this statue offensive, feel free to join the conversation. Otherwise just enjoy the creative spirit. Man, leave it to an island full of attorneys to take something creative and life-affirming and drown it in the bathtub.

Wonkette : Pacific Northwest Wonkettonians: Get Your (Unofficial) Drinky Thing On In Seattle, June 1!

I couldn't think of a finer terrible place to drink than the Blarney Stone! I did some of my most depraved drinking at that stink hole back in my drinking days. I fully endorse this drinky thing. I probably will not be in attendance, as I am a sober person these days and scenes like that tend to upset me and get me thirsty. However, should any of you have a moment of clarity the next morning, give me a call and I'll gladly take you to some of the finest AA meetings available! Cheers!

Wonkette : Alberto Gonzales Offers Totally Hypothetical Example Of How To Investigate, Say, A Leaked CIA Agent'

I certainly don't have the raging priapism for Pres. Barry Obamz that I did five years ago, but I'm generally a little more chilled out about politics than I used to be. Maybe it's all the alcohol I was drinking when Bush was president, but I have trouble remembering all the sordid details of his administration. Every now and then, when somebody mentions something like this or Abu Ghraib, I just think "damn, those cocks were some huge dicks." I mean, really... The Neo-Cons just did the whole vendetta and fear mongering thing so, so well. Christ, Cheney shot a dude in the face. Remember THAT?!?

We're pretty strange folk out here in Washington. I live in a liberal, island paradise outside of Seattle and last Fall I took a trip down to Portland for a weekend. It had been a few years since I had seen that part of the state. Ho boy, that's a special caliber of crazy right-winger around Enumclaw and down through Centralia.
