"They would not give us a family membership, because we could not provide a marriage license from the state of Idaho," said Rachel Dovel from her apartment in Nampa. Soooo, let me get this straight, seems most here on this board have taken over the argument to showcase their feelings for or against injustices agains gay couples, yeah? Well, seems to me this story is worth revisiting. First of all, they were denied a discount offered to other tax paying citizens, as they are, becasue they were not married, period. We are talking about a "FAMILY" discount here, so what we need to do is define FAMILY. As example, my girlfriend and I have been together for 5 years, she has a woderful, now eight year old son, who calls me his step-dad.... we are a FAMILY, we are NOT a legally married couple. Why should I not be aforeded the same FAMILY discount as other tax payers are? The city offers the discount to FAMILIES, not married couples, no? As well, let me be very clear, I wish this same sex couple all the luck in the world fighting the good fight, they deserve the same rights as any of us. GOD BLESS.
