I have to hand it to The Daily Show, they saw the contradiction and called it out. I just wish they would be more consistent about it. There is so much material to work with, you guys!

Big Hollywood : Daily Call Sheet: 'Goodfellas: The Series,' The Death Of Cable, Spielberg's DGA Snub

What donkeysnake said. I have an Xbox but not a Gold subscription, because I'm not really the multiplayer type. I used my free trial but as soon as it ran out I could no longer watch Netflix. Netflix is the ONLY reason I would subscribe to Gold, but it's not worth it since my trusty Wii provides that service with no cost or obligation. EDIT: However, if I can watch Fox News... I might just get rid of cable and go Gold after all...

Big Hollywood : Morning Playlist: Indies Cover the Slightly Less Indie

Some Starflyer 59 love on BH? Yeah! I bought Gold when I was in junior high (oh man). I can't claim it was love at first sight, but my appreciation and affection grew more and more with each listen, like any true love should.

Big Hollywood : First Look: Poster for Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus'

Putting the whole human race in danger can seem trite, UNLESS Scott creates characters that we love and then puts THEM in danger as they're trying to save the rest of us. That's one of the reasons Aliens worked, imo.

I've been waiting for this film since the first time I saw Alien. SO STOKED. And I can't express how relieved I am that Ridley Scott is at the helm. For once I'm going to suspend my skepticism. I choose to hope & believe that this film will be awesome. If I'm disappointed later, so be it.

Big Hollywood : Daily Call Sheet: 'Grown Ups' Sequel, Best TV Shows on Netflix, and Khaaaaaaaaaaannnnnn!!!!

Re: Best Shows on Netflix. "Columbo" and "Mission: Impossible" were two of my favorite shows when I was a kid -- and I was born in 1982. We watched Nick at Nite almost every night. Somehow TVLand didn't fare so well... I'm glad to see that they're on Netflix Instant, but the benefit of having them on Nick at Nite was that they were always there if you were just flipping the channels. On Netfix you have to go looking for them. Netflix is horrible at advertising shows that they have available.

Big Hollywood : Same Roger Ebert Who Sees Coded Racism in 'Food Stamps' Publishes Excuse for Director's Pro-Nazi Ran

But you see, John, leftists are intelligent, sensitive, open-minded individuals who embrace the post-modern aesthetic. Whatever they say can be interpreted and deconstructed to mean whatever the listener wants it to mean. Conservatives, however, are stupid racists, and everything they say is obviously a code for the stupid racism that they secretly embrace.

Big Hollywood : 'Thor' Review: Convoluted and Cold

I just got back from the theater, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting Casablanca; I was expecting a fun ride, and that's what I got. Plus there were actually some great dramatic moments. I won't spoil it for anybody, but Anthony Hopkins RULES. [Edit] And did you not catch the part where one of the characters IN THE FILM makes fun of the "convoluted" name of Mjolnir? I took it as kind of a nod to the audience, like "Yeah, we know, but that's what it's called."

I was never interested in Buffy when I was a teenager, as it aired originally. My friend in film school practically forced me to watch the pilot episode just last year. I subsequently watched the entire series in the span of about 4 months, as he graciously allowed me to borrow his DVD collection. Now it's one of my favorite TV shows of all time (full disclosure, the rest of my top 5 includes Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Firefly, and the entire Star Trek universe). I'm a girl nerd, but I love it. [Edit] P.S. -- As a girl, I loved the father-daughter aspect of Buffy and Giles' relationship. I loved that he wasn't perfect, and he had his own questionable past, but Whedon allowed him to have experience, learning, training, maturity, wisdom, quiet strength, and real paternal love on his side.
