FYI: "DEFCON 5" is the lowest state of risk possible. I believe the author means DEFCON 1.

Big Journalism : Nancy Giles Misconstrues the Celebration of Justice

Capital punishment aside, I find it rather un-enlightening that yet another self-proclaimed liberal feels that she is qualified to offer her "intellectually superior" commentary regarding political opponents with which she already does not agree. I knew what she was going to say before she opened her mouth, and thus her "contribution" to public discourse was entirely worthless.

Big Government : Open the Doors and Windows to the Ivory Towers

"...Outside the 20 percent most productive teachers, the average teaching load is 63 students a year. That borders on semi-retirement – research and publications notwithstanding." I'd be interested to see what these figures would look like if all sciences were omitted from the data. Research and publications are paramount to scientific research and VERY time-consuming. Further, they contribute to educational productivity through the graduate programs, providing the capstone projects necessary for students to receive graduate degrees in many fields.

Am I the only one who thinks that this picture of Jon Stewart makes him look like a young Christopher Plummer in the Sound of Music?
