Merry Christmas to you Leah. Thank you for another great post - just what I have always believed - Love IS the answer. And thank you so much for fighting the good fight. I never forget that it is a fight - against hatred, ignorance, ego, and domination. We must win this one. Happy Holidays to all, may peace, joy and love fill your lives.

God's Own Party? : Guest Post ~ Bible Study for Palin

Excellent GenieO! I know you're not holding your breath for that phone call. :-) The Proverb's verses remind me of what I've always believed and still do. When I was a child and forced to go to church and Sunday School every week (not evangelical), I started questioning the hypocritical behavior of our church leaders. They'd leave an uplifting service & gather together outside to gossip & bash people they thought weren't as holy as they were. It made me sick but I had to keep going. Then when I was married - at a very young age and moved away, I kept trying different churches, still questioning - not my beliefs, but the behaviors. Now I knewknow that not everyone is the same, but it became more and more clear to me that the commonality was that the more the person was a fervent church goer, the more hateful and condemning their behavior was. So I quit going to church to be able to protect my belief in the golden rule and a loving God. This was a source of conflict between my Mother & I until the day she died. She believed that I was going to hell because I refused to enter the hallowed halls of a church. During my life I've researched other religions including Christianity - still questioning, and have gotten to the point where I no longer know how to classify myself. My beliefs have stayed the same - the golden rule, The Hippocratic oath - do no harm. I do judge. I am rabidly judgmental of X'hristians and judgmental fanatics of any kind. At some level, I feel guilty for not being able or willing to overcome that. But I'm overcoming that too. :-) Thank you so very much Leah (and GenieO) for putting voice to everything I feel. I can't supply a lot of monetary support, will do what I can, but you have my full and undivided support for anything else I can do. Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

God's Own Party? : Tracking Dominionist Orgs is Like Playing "Whack-a-Mole"!

Leah, Regina at Palingates has the link for IRS reporting on her sidebar. I think this is a great idea. All the Pastor's (caught on video) who pray for President Obama's death need to be reported too (both to IRS & the Secret Service). OMG, the task ahead feels so overwhelming but we all have to do our parts to fight this. I just can't thank you, Alex, Mikey, Max, Gryph, Rachel and others like you enough. Bless you!

Leah, You're exactly correct! And they also make things up. I have a friend who went to one of our "mega-churchs" as a guest. Her father was a Baptist minister and during her college days, she did missionary work and knows the bible backward & forward. Early on she left the church, (too intelligent to stay) but has studied most of the other religions. She said the "church" had the usual fundie props - big stage, flashing lights, huge video screen, band, etc. They had a "special" guest speaker who got up & ranted & raved, quoted scriptures (many did not even exist) to prove his points etc. The crowd was mesmerized, gave him a standing ovation at the end. She sat there stunned at the ignorance, even though she had anticipated it. She later asked the couple who had invited her if the speaker had a divinity degree. They didn't know and asked her why it mattered. She said "Because he doesn't even know the scriptures, many things he quoted are not even in the bible and ones that are were misquoted." The lady drew herself up in a huff and said "You DON"T have to know the gospel to preach." WOW! Subject closed, and I bet she won't be invited back. :-)

God's Own Party? : Palin? Whatever! Who the Hell is Lynn Vincent?

Vincent's connections have been extensively covered the last few days on both Countdown & the Rachel Maddow show. They are great! Leah, thanks again for another wonderful post. I can't agree with you more about the seriousness of these more than scary fanatics. Key is exposing them at every turn and I'm starting to see more evidence of that happening, but not nearly enough. Many, many kudos to you for shining your light and helping to educate. Thank you!

God's Own Party? : Why I Spell Christian with a Small 'c'...

They not only misinterpret and cherry pick the bible, they make things up. I was talking with a very knowledgeable friend yesterday about this. She's studied all the major religions, her father was a Baptist minister, and she was raised knowing the scriptures backward & forward. She's one who escaped. She visited our local mega church with some evangelical acquaintances recently out of curiousity. She said they had all the bells & whistles - band, flashing lights, mega screen etc. After the pastor gave a prayer, he announced a very special guest. Some guy who's supposedly big in the evangelical circles (she couldn't remember his name) who got up to wild applause & delivered "the message." He ranted & raved & misquoted the scriptures frequently through out and finished with a standing ovation. My friend sat there stunned, unable to believe what she had just heard. After the service her friends were raving about the man. She said, "but he continually misquoted the scriptures and even made some passages up" and asked where he had gotten his divinity degree. They immediately shut down & the wife said defiantly "You DON'T need to know the gospel to preach! Totally blind and dumber than dirt and they are highly educated people. OMG just continues to boggle the mind! Thanks Leah!

theopalinism : Virginia GOP Whacko! "Bullet Box versus Ballot Box"!?

(continuing) There have been many who said Hitler atrocities could never happen in the US, but these poor deluded sheeple are living proof that it could - and has. Blind, unquestioning obedience. Just look how far GW took us down that path. Thank heavens for people like you! And believe me when I say - you're never alone. People are quoting you and your site all over the blogs. We loves you lady! Happy writing!

Thanks so much Leah. I appreciate your checking into this. These folks are beyond scary, they are dangerous and it's frustrating to me that people continually try to marginalize them as a "few" loony tunes. I think the C-Street stories are starting to bring this into mainstream attention, but not enough. You have a real ally in Rachel Maddow. She's amazing & right on top of this. I'm hopeful that maybe "some" of the sheeple are starting to see the light about $carah. They can't admit it, but I was heartened to read the comments at ADN on the press release Kristan Cole issued about $carah not knowing anything about the Official fund until Tues. when the story came out. There were NO trolls commenting. Even they knew better and could have nothing to say. A first! (continued)

Leah, this is OT but I have a question for you. Over at Palingates under Regina's post "$arah Palin's Handwriting" is a picture of Trig. It's on a thank you note from $arah for a gift. Will you please check it out and see if it's heavily "in code." Note tiny print of Trig Paxson with separate line, large print, VAN PALIN beneath. Also looks like there is a nazi-like halo (bracelet?) around his head with the initials VP. It struck me as being extremely bizarre. and I immediately thought of the 7 mountains gang admiration of Hitler. ____ What are your thoughts on this? I really appreciate any feedback you can provide and also wanted to let you know that I'm a bigtime follower of your blog. These fanatics cannot be taken lightly and you have all my admiration for all the work you're doing to shine a light on this cesspool. Many thanks! PS- Yay! I can post.
