I have always been a proponent of marijuana legalization - since the 1960s. During my many years in the criminal justice and corrections fields, as well as being a certified addiction counselor, it never ceases to amaze me how poorly informed are the American people. NO ONE is suggesting legalizing ALL drugs - that would be ludicrous and dangerous to society, but marijuana? It's harmless. It has been proven that pot is NOT a "gateway drug" and a former "drug czar" reluctantly admitted it. Believing in that fallacy leads to the logical conclusion that a teenager who tastes a beer WILL become a gutter drunk whose drink of choice is MD-20/20 or cheap Vodka. As it becomes apparent, thanks to "medical marijuana" laws all across America, that pot is NOT dangerous, the powers-that-be need to establish formal policies and procedures for its growth and distribution. It's NOT complicated, but errant opinions taint the issue with Chicken Little cries. Legalize it, control its distribution, and tax it. Watch as the number of violent crimes plummet - especially domestic violence. ~(Ä)~
