Big Government : The AFDI Threats to Freedom Index

pilgrim_shadow in somewhat of the same vein that you point out it would be incredibly useful to publish the names of the people that authorize the federal, state and local monies these groups receive. Publish the congresscritters that earmark the funds these groups receive. Publish the foundations that fund these groups, then track back any govt. funding the foundations receive. Lastly, if these groups are receiving donations it would be interesting to name who is giving these groups their funds provided that the groups actually publicly acknowledge who are their sources of capital.

Big Government : SEIU, Fighting for 'Living' Wages, Enjoys Some Nice Standards of Living

Baroke Owebama great work! As with other methods of Union management lets see how many of the SEIU execs pull salaries, wages, benefits and other forms of income from affiliated organizations. It would not suprise me if Andy Stern gets several checks per month for his activities from his "local" and other unions, foundations and others. Even more informative would be a listing of their lobbying expenses, after all when Andy is visiting his pal in the White House I am sure that he is also in town spreading the Union's wealth around for sympathetic votes and/or nice regulations to punish the firms his unions is sucking dry. Does Andy get a private jet for his visits? Does Andy get the cheap rooms at Motel6 or is the Mayflower? Taxi or Limo? How close is the Burger King to the Mayflower anyway?

Big Government : L.A. Parents Pull the Trigger on School Choice

Holdmynose, sad yes. If retesting is necessary for the children to get an education so what. To ignore that they have yet to receive the necessary knowledge and promote the is the old way of doing things. Just pass them on, no, no and no. Put them back in the grade that they need to repeat and get them back on track. What I am waiting for is the unions to weigh in and subvert the legislation. Will they still have the power to control the new school rules and regulations? You know in your heart that this will be the under the radar battle for the students futures.

Big Government : Parents Revolt in Chicago: Will Big Education Listen?

I think most of us agree that we spend too much money on public schools. Private, charter and magnet schools can and will expel miscreant students whereas the public schools do not or cannot. Public schools have too many laws intruding upon them couple that with teachers unions, unified school districts and politicized school boards and you have an elephant designed by a committee, not to mention the straight jacket of education degrees issued by our universities. Ask yourself this, why can't an accountant teach arithmatic or bookkeeping in a high school but some ed major with a minor in feminist studies can? Break up these huge conglomerate school districts, re-create the local school controlled by it's locality. Take the laws protecting children from being educated in a stern environment off the books and tell the unions (teacher, admin, janitorial) to go fly a kite. Let the local populace control its schools period. If they don't care then they get what they want-a bad school. Our present massive school system with its layer upon layer of complexity, opportunity for graft and corruption and misspent funds does not work.

Sure the tribes just might create a casino to steal from the poor but what about your victims? I'll bet if those "GOP Racists" that you are so familiar with would be creating business after business with their ill gotten gains you would be playing the same side of the coin and denouncing them as racists robbers of the poor. Darn-heads you win, tails I lose. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda just the same old trivial claptrap from the PC Crowd. Hey sailor, if any of the Pigford folks start a business are the Uncle Tom?

GoWest. As a nominal worker to help LCol West get elected I am quite happy. The C-B-C- (Congressional Black (D) Caucus), if my memory serves me right, "allowed" former Rep Watts OK(R) to "sit-in" to their meetings but was asked to leave when it was "time to do bidnet" and that was the reason that Watts never joined. Rep. Elect West is correct to point out that the district represented by the C-B-C- have 70% out of wedlock birth rates, 60% high school drop out rates and incarceration rates way too high and have been getting worse since the formation of the C-B-C-. They fought to eliminate the DC school voucher program, they support liberal abortion politics even though black abortion rates are morally way too high and they shovel fed $s to their districts despite the damage done to their people.

Sorry, jpalm I am new to this forum.
Sure theman had a point. Yet, it appears that the Mayor pointed out to him that his address was not to the item at issue therefore he should speak to the issue. Additionally, when the man singled out an individual council member that was against the bylaws of the meeting. My guess is that this had been going on for some time, the violation of meeting rules. The Councilwoman finally put her foot down.It appears that although the Mayor felt sympathetic to the speaker he also correctly applied the rule and gaveled him down. Rules are made for a reason. The man has a right to address the Council, not an individual member of the Council.

From: notifications@intensedebatemail.com
To: billpiergroup77@msn.com
Subject: jpalm32 replied to your comment on Out-of-Control City Councilwoman Bullies, Intimidates and Shouts-Down Citizens
Big Government : Democrats' Michigan Meltdown

Back when I was a youngster in Mi we were the industrial center of the world, producing more product than any other area in the world. I have seen cities and towns vote for ever greater union contracts despite the fact that their employers told them they are too expensive and will move production elsewhere. Well the third world is thankful to Michigan greed. Today there is almost nothing left of the huge machine tool, automotive, defense, electronic component production. Last time I drove up there, I drove across the country, and the worst roads I came across were in Ohio and Michigan. They can't even keep up their roads even though tourism is a major source of income. To the poster about Dingell and Ann Arbor a simple question. What did AA spend their money on rather than repairing their own bridge?

Reading the comments from the Chicago papers I read one comment over and over...."It's the Chicago Way." We need to get serious about this and have the courts take over this monstrosity. Just like they did to the south after the equal rights amendments. No local control of voting procedres and the actual voting process in Illinois for the next 50 years. Nothing less will work to put a stop to this. They cannot be allowed to violate the sacntity of the voting right.

Big Government : What We Believe, Part I: Small Government and Free Enterprise

Kudos Mr. Whittle. A point that I have made to liberals too many times is about taxation and government jobs and they never quite understand. It usually starts out when they tout government jobs. The government is funded by tax dollars. Everyone the government employs are paid by tax dollars then the government taxes its employees. So why does the government tax its employees when the money was taken from others tax bills? Now take it a step further, if the government pays some of its employees less than the effective taxable rate government workers take tax dollars but do not pay any taxes while others do pay taxes. Private sector workers that pay taxes actually create the wealth that pays govt. workers who consume that wealth but the government takes their tax payer income.

. Reading through the posts has been fun. Who, or which nationality, first? Lemme see the Norse/Vikings, some Jewish folks digging burial mounds in the Ohio Valley, our Italian shyster or perhaps the Chinese who sailed all the over here, took a look around and said a collective NATCH (or whatever the ancient Chinese was for that or judging by Chinese history were those intrepid souls speaking Mongolian?), Then there is Erik Von Danegan with Kon Tiki. Somehow those pesky redskins got here earlier just walkin' an' talkin' across the Berents ice bridge. I never did read who was the governmental beauracrat that signed off on that one. So, when are we to pay reparations to the Mongols? This PCCrapola can be fun! We Conservative/racist/homophobe/gunlovin'/biblethump'/killthebabieswithleadinthewater bigots can have some fun too!

Oh gosh oh golly the PCers have really gotten under our collective skin. I never knew about thier revisionism until, way back when, they sailed the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria reproductions into the World Financial Center dock. Wow were they in high PC dudgeon what with all of that Italian shyster. After all, Columbus, suckered Ferdie and Isabella into believing that he could sail to India by crossing the Atlantic.
