I'll take a coffee, and a cigarette, please, since you seem to have those lying around, and it's possibly the world's best flavor combination.

Sad but true: these days in NYC, a cup of regular coffee is pretty much cheaper than a singular cigarette.

I've never quite understood the whole drive for uniques, but I'm not on the money side of things. Frankly I think the best chance of turning a random unique into a returning visitor is exposing them to our community. Lots of sites have great content, and I'm proud of ours, but in my estimation no one can touch Gawker Media's commentary.

And it has been the high(er) bar we have for entry and the featured contributions from the stars and the work the stars do to promote the best they see that has led many people to tell me they read the articles as much for the commentary as the writing above.

So the whiskey turned into several and then much-needed sleep but I'm back again and...better than ever? Tech is on the case to get comment breakage and confusion, erm, unbroken. It's definitely top of list.

This makes me sad since I so adore your commentary but yours is a position I try frequently to emphasize to the PTB -- how essential, and how read, our commenters are. I went to a community managers meet-up and literally the entire room begged to know how we "got" you guys.

I've felt awful in the past when other changes have resulted in us losing some of the best. I'd like to put this comment of yours on a keychain and give it to Nick. Maybe I will?

I'm very much here of my own volition, not dispatched to do any damage control. I just wanted you all to know how much you *are* valued and that the bugs reshaping comments at the moment are not intentional.
