Did your son have a useless liberal arts degree, or a degree and experience that warranted a $10.5 million dollar a year salary?

This would be a great time for you to step up.... "There is a fund set up at the Strait View Credit Union in Port Angeles. (svcu.com) I just phoned them. Checks can be mailed to the credit union, payable to Henry Pimentel, and in the subject line, write "Jennifer's Memorial Fund." You don't have to wait around for other people to act.

Yeah, I also think it's fine that China's joined in. I'm just amazed that other countries are finally getting into the game. We did all this in the 60s, using a slide rule! With all the parametric modelers, board layout tools, and a myriad of computer aided machine tools, China's finally getting something on the moon.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Shooting near the Jungle | Beacon Hill News

I'd rather keep my freedoms intact. I feel the same yesterday as I did today, because our second amendment rights are still there. America is one of the oldest and most stable democracies, because the American people have the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. You start stripping that away and this is where the instability comes in to play. You would ban guns, because it would make you *feel safe*. Disregarding the fact that states with the strictest gun laws have the most gun violence. You'd rather pretend that, because someone put another law on the books the criminals will not find a firearm on the black market. That the drug dealer will not also be able to get his hands on some guns for those gangbangers that feel like they need to get back at their rivals for disrespecting them. This is the exact same scenario we have now. Except with some major differences: 1) You've stripped away one of our rights. 2) You've turned law-abiding gun owners into criminals. 3) You've made the drug dealer more money, because he now sells guns. 4) You've made the cartels more money, because they now distribute guns in America. I would guess that there's less than 25%. AK-47 and AK-74 are way more suited for their needs. Less maintenance and more reliable gas-piston system.

I'm not worried about what you think of me. I am licensed to carry. My anecdote was requested by you. It was not intended to dispute those numbers. Remember, "How many people do you know that have stopped a crime using a gun?" We have a fundamental difference of opinion here. You believe that the murder-by-gun number will decrease when you ban guns. I believe the opposite. Here is the reason why.... we have neighbors to the north and south of us that both have gun bans. Canada is a utopia where everyone gets along. Mexico is riddled with shooting and kidnappings. The petty criminals don't have access to guns, but the cartels sure do. The kill cops and get into shootouts with the Mexican Army. This is an Army that, on an individual infantry soldier's level, has as much equipment as an American soldier (M4 and Interceptor body armor). You picture Canada... I see Mexico.

What doesn't matter how many times I've had to protect my family. It's my right as an American citizen to have a firearm on-hand. This is a right given to us by the founding fathers and recently reaffirmed by the Supreme Court. (See District of Columbia v. Heller and McDonald v. Chicago.) You perception of my world doesn't change any of that. I have the Second Amendment, and the Supreme Court on my side. Who do you have? Also, I do know someone who stopped a crime with a gun. It was me. I was getting gas at about 12:30am, about 5 weeks ago. I pulled out my iPhone to answer a text message. The second I pulled out my phone, I saw at the corner of my eye, 3 guys that were just standing there before... start to walk towards me. I calmly put my phone away and said what's up. They replied, "You got a smoke." I told them, no. They proceeded to get closer to me, at which point I put my left hand up and my right hand on my pistol. I didn't draw the pistol, but they got the idea and immediately walked away as fast as they could. It's not like the movies... it didn't end in a shootout. Both sides walked away. I am not a vigilante, I was not there to punish them. I am a law-abiding citizen who did not want to be assault/robbed that night.

Wow. You just stated the case for why a ban is asinine. Somehow she got around our gun laws... What is a ban? It's another law. Last I heard, crack cocaine was banned. But, I'm sure Lakesha got a hold of some of that too.

No... wrong again. My right to protect my family and my home outweighs your fear of firearms and your misunderstanding of a responsible gun owner. You continually refer to a firearm as something that has only one purpose... killing, and as a "really awesome toy". This just shows that you are driven by fear and ignorance. You use sarcasm after all your fear mongering has failed you. I understand that you hate guns and want to ban them. I'll still come help you when you're screaming in the alley. Just avert your eyes, I'll have a gun with me, because that's the best tool for the job.

No, people use them for self-defense... you just don't hear about it. Most go unreported. And the instances that do get reported aren't attention grabbers. Simply having a gun present will deter most criminals. thearmedcitizen.com/ The above website just simply takes news clippings of those who've used guns in self-defense.
