I'm trying to be more restrained with my shopping at the moment, so I just ordered two sizes of the intarsia star sweater: https://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?...

No idea if it will be any good in person, but the style is quirky while still being wearable day-to-day (take note, Anthro).

I got a promo email from BR with a unique coupon code for the 50% off/30% off cardholder deal. And I don't/have never had a CC from any of the Gap stores. I've used my code already for 50% off, in fact, so I can confirm that it's real!

They have so. much. stuff that I agree some of it is good! But so hard to pick out gems in the mess. (You do a good job of it, but I have kinda the opposite body type from you ;) -- petite, no bust or waist definition to speak of -- so my fit issues are different.)

I bought the Allison Floral Sweater Dress last month, reminds me of vintage Anthro. Also recently purchased a pair of lavender corduroy skinnies, which I'm happy enough with for the price but the waist is gapping a lot after 1 wash, even though I sized down.

I'm still uninspired by the clothing assortment -- have you noticed just now many sweaters there are, and how terrible most of them look? But, I ordered several items today from their home section. The Papetal by Jennifer Tran collection is some of the most beautiful bowls and plates I have ever seen, and surprisingly affordable (in line with Anthro's usual dinnerware prices).

I am so envious of you folks who can fit into Sundance and Johnny Was. I miss the boho side of Anthro's aesthetic :( I'm not *that* skinny but my body type is small-framed petite rectangle and I really need to wear flowy stuff in the right proportions. I am way sized out of XS at Johnny Was and looking at Sundance's size chart I'm not inspired to risk it. (I'm wearing XXS more and more at Anthro these days, even though I haven't lost any weight from high school when I needed a size 4 in their fitted dresses.)

I keep buying scarves from JW, even though I don't really wear scarves these days... But I can't resist the gorgeous prints. Sadly I am sized out of much of their clothing, since their XS tends to run big and I'm between XXS and XS at Anthro.

I actually DO live in California; it was 50F and raining all day, not exactly sandals and dresses weather.

I agree that Anthro is churning out a lot of cute unwearable stuff, but I actually don't think the Michael Stars dress qualifies. The same number of sizes are available, it's just shifted downwards... so people who are smaller than me aren't sized out, at the same time that people like you unfortunately are sized out. That to me is just the reality of limited retail sizing today :(

I just came back from China, where I wear a size Small in tops. These days, that translates to a size 0 at J.Crew and a size 00 at Anthro :/ So what are my smaller friends--of which I can think of several, I'm 5'3" and 118 lbs which is really not that tiny--going to wear? (My main problem with tops is the opposite of yours -- loose and flowy means that everything is cut with positive ease in the chest, and I don't have the boobs to fill anything out.)

My splurge purchase in London last week was this Ted Baker dress. Utterly gorgeous print (less shiny in person than the photo) and I love the backless V. And it was more than 40% off the US price after VAT refund, too.

I'd stick with Anthropologie. Here's what I'm eyeing right now:
